IIM Lucknow has awarded 76% weightage to CAT 2015 scores in shortlisting candidates for 2016-18 batch
Highlight in the shortlist of candidates at IIM Lucknow is that it contains number of such candidates who have been shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad but have not figured in the shortlist of IIM Lucknow

Awarding 76% weightage to CAT 2015 scores, IIM Lucknow has announced the shortlist of candidates for various PGP 2016-18 programmes offered by this highly ranked B-school. It will be of interest to note that many candidates shortlisted by IIMA have not been able to make it to IIML.For a total intake of around 500 students, IIM Lucknow has shortlisted about 20000 candidates from different categories out of 1.80 lakh CAT 2015 test takers.

The shortlisitng criteria for admission 2016 to flagship PGP; PGP-ABM and PGP-SM programmes 2016-18 at IIM Lucknow award 76% weightage to CAT 2015 scores only. While the required minimum percentile for PGP 2016-18 is 90 percentile in CAT 2015, it is lower for PGP-ABM and PGP-SM programmes. The actual cut offs have gone much higher than the minimum required percentile.

Many with 99 percentile not in the list
Interestingly many candidates with 99 and above percentile in CAT 2015 have not been shortlisted by IIM Lucknow despite awarding 76% weightage only to CAT 2015 scores due to the dip in sectional percentile in one or other section. When asked, most of the candidates have attributed this ironical situation to increasing the number of sections from 2 to 3 and clubbing Data Interpretation and logical Reasoning into one section instead of retaining them with their respective Quant and Verbal sections since DI and LR questions could be compensated by Quant and Verbal in earlier CAT exams.

Shortlisted by IIMA but not by IIML
Another contradiction and highlight in the shortlist of candidates at IIM Lucknow is that it contains number of such candidates who have been shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad but have not figured in the shortlist of IIM Lucknow.

The situation has emerged due to the different shortlisting criteria in both the B-schools. IIM Ahmedabad has also revised its shortlisting criteria with less weightage to CAT 2015 scores. The minimum required percentile to get shortlisted at IIMA is 80 overall and 70 sectional along with more weightage awarded to academic profile and diversity. IIML requires minimum 90 overall and 85 sectional percentile in CAT 2015 and awards very high 76% weightage to shortlist a candidate for final admission round.

The minimum CAT 2015 score requirement has further gone up in actual shortlisitng of the candidates at IIML since the cut off has to be applied in order of merit.

Short listing Criteria followed by IIM Lucknow
The most important criterion for generation of merit list for WAT-PI for PGP, PGP-ABM & PGP-SM programme 2016-18 at Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow is the CAT 2015 scores obtained by the eligible candidate. On a scale of 50, IIM Lucknow has awarded weightage of 38 points to CAT 2015 score in shortlisting the candidates for WAT & PI round for Flagship PGP 2016-18 batch. It comes to 76% on a scale of 100.

The following minimum CAT 2015 score cut-offs  have been applied to shortlist the candidates by IIM Lucknow for selecting the eligible candidates to different programmes.
