All the premium B schools accepting CMAT 2016 scores and offering AICTE approved PGDM programmes are still open with their admission application process
You should not confine yourself within any regional boundaries as good B-schools offering admission on CMAT 2016 scores exist across the country

With CMAT 2016 score card in hand and many B-schools still open with admission, unless you are aware which B schools you should approach with your scores, you may miss the admission opportunity in good B-schools who are going to close their application process shortly.  There are premium B schools still open with their admission application and accepting CMAT 2016 scores. All of these B schools offer AICTE approved regular and specialized MBA/PGDM programmes.

CMT 2016 result was declared by AICTE after 10PM on January 21, 2016 with the detailed merit list and scores obtained by the test takers. AICTE has also taken care that all the candidates who appeared in CMAT 2016 are given the percentile rank and no one is disqualified.

How to choose the right B-school
In view of Prof S K Agarwal mentor on CMAT preparation, CMAT 2016 takers should judiciously choose the right B school with their scores after applying various pros & cons. But you should not confine yourself within any regional boundaries as good B-schools offering admission on CMAT 2016 scores exist across the country. Prof Agarwal shares following tips for the MBA aspirants on, how to utilize their scores in selecting the good B school.

Check, if B school open with application
If you have not already applied to any B school and wish to apply now, do not get disheartened there are still number of B schools across the country who have extended their last date to submit admission application and have kept their admission process open. The application process is online and therefore you still have few days to submit your application.  The need is to act a little fast now.

Expect good B school at low scores
Low scoring pattern in CMAT 2016 can enable you to get good B school at low percentile. Not only this, your percentile score might have also improved at a lesser score compared to the score in CAT 2015.

There are 55084 candidates whose CMAT 2016 scores have been declared by AICTE. Out of them 1504 candidates have scored marks between 200 to 300 and there is only one candidate with 300 marks who has been ranked 100 percentiler by AICTE. There are 18884 candidates who have scored between 100 to 200 marks.

34073 CMAT 2016 test takers have scored below 100 but above zero marks while 623 have scored negative marks. The last qualified candidate with zero percentile has scored -40 marks but can still be considered for admission in a B-school as the candidate has not been disqualified.

Check your place in National merit
Go through the CMAT 2016 National Merit List and find out what’s your standing. If you go for close observation, you will find that AICTE has awarded CMAT scores as raw scores as well as percentile scores in the National Merit List.

If you have a good place in the list, you will stand a good chance in comparison to other exams.  For example a 90 percentile in CAT 2015 does not reflect true score. The raw marks might have been very low but CMAT 2016 first rank holder at 300 out of 400 becomes 100 percentiler when the score of CAT and CMAT are compared. With this gap in number of candidates and scores you could choose any of the top 10 B schools accepting CMAT 2016 scores.

Low cut off
With dip in scores, candidates scoring a moderate raw score can expect to be offered admission in a good B school. There are only 1504 candidates above the score of 200 in CMAT 2016. It is expected that the candidates in top B schools can get admission at a reduced cut off by 15-20 marks as against the earlier anticipated cut off.

Expected cut off across the country
Following are the top B schools that are supposed to accept CMAT 2016 scores for PGDM/MBA batch 2016-18. These B schools are still open with their admission application process. The fee structure of these B schools is also affordable in comparison to IIMs and other private B schools. The best part is that these B schools will accept CMAT 2016 scores.

No admission to JBIMS with CMAT scores
JBIMS Mumbai which used to consider CMAT score earlier in its admission process has stopped accepting it. Please note that JBIMS, Mumbai would accept only MAH-CET 2016 and CAT 2015 scores in admission 2016 to the flagship MMS programme. The B-school will also not participate in CAP 2016 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra and will conduct its own PI round.

Required documents for PI round
Hard copies of required documents should be kept ready for second stage of admission round. You will need the originals as well as copies of your marks sheets, certificates from 10th standard to the highest degree that you have mentioned in your form. Special or reserved category(DA/SC/ST) certificates; id proof;  address proof; experience certificate, if you are a working professional; certificates of extracurricular activities; Domicile proof; Date of Birth certificate and any other certificate and photographs required by the particular University or the institute during final admission round should be kept in a file so that you do not forget the same when you go to convert the call.

CMAT score card: An edge over other exams
There are many institutes which will accept CAT 2015 and CMAT 2016 both. The problem with CAT score lies in its sectional cut off.  A candidate may have high overall CAT percentile but low sectional percentile which may block the admission chances to good B school.  But there is no such problem with CMAT 2016 score card as it has sectional as well as overall score with pre declared place in merit list. You may use your CMAT 2016 score card parallel to score cards of other All India Entrance exams.
