IIM Kashipur will now coordinate the CAP 2016 for 9 IIMs as against the earlier announced 6 IIMs for admission to PGP 2016-18 batch
Each of the 9 IIMs will have to shortlist around 1400 candidates who have scored the desired percentile in CAT 2015 as per their admission parameters

Instead of 6 IIMs, there would be 9 IIMs who would participate in Common Admission Process (CAP) 2016 being coordinated by IIM Kashipur. The homepage on IIM Kashipur website says “Welcome to the Admission Process of IIM Kashipur/IIM Raipur/IIM Ranchi/IIM Rohtak/ IIM Tiruchirappalli/IIM Udaipur/IIM BodhGaya/IIM Sambalpur/IIM Amritsar.” However the remaining 3 new IIMs namely IIM Nagpur, IIM Sirmaur and IIM Visakhapatnam wouldn’t participate in CAP 2016.

While IIM Sirmaur will not go for any GD-PI-WAT process to prepare final merit list for PGP 2016-18 admission, the admission policy for IIM Nagpur and IIM Visakhapatnam is yet to be announced.  It appears that the PI & WAT scores of the eligible candidates for the remaining 2 new IIMs viz IIM Nagpur and IIM Visakhapatnam will be directly made available by their mentor IIMs i.e. IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore respectively.

Clarifying the position before the 3 more IIMs decided to join CAP 2016, IIM Ranchi made it clear in its admission policy ‘PI & WAT scores of the eligible candidates of the six new IIMs will be directly collected from IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode. Only the rest of the candidates need to appear for the Common Personal interview and Written Ability Test of the six new IIMs.’ However with the changed process, while the 3 IIMs mentored by IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode would directly participate in CAP 2016, IIM Sirmaur mentored by IIM Lucknow would not go for PI-WAT in 2016, and IIM Visakhapatnam mentored by IIM Bangalore may directly furnish the PI-WAT scores.

Check your status
If you are shortlisted by any of the 9 IIMs, to enable you to check the details about your CAP 2016, IIM Kashipur requires you to enter your registration number, date of birth in YYYY-MM-DD format and your E-Mail ID as provided in the CAT 2015 application form at the link http://cap.iimkashipur.ac.in/.  Inserting the required details in following window will fetch you the details regarding call for CAP 2016

3 IIMs not declared shortlist but participating in CAP
Although you may not be able to view any shortlist announced by IIM Amritsar, IIM BodhGaya and IIM Sambalpur, if you visit their sites but if you are not shortlisted the regret message would be from all the 9 IIMs instead of 6 IIMs and would state “We regret to inform you that you have not been shortlisted by any of the nine participating IIMs in the common admission process.”

While the relatively older 6 IIMs have declared their respective shortlists of candidates for CAP 2016, it is interesting to note that except IIM BodhGaya, IIM Amritsar and IIM Sambalpur who are participating in CAP 2016 have not even announced the admission policy not to say of the shortlist. Now who would be the shortlisted candidates for CAP 2016 for these 3 IIMs is a big question that remains to be answered.

New & Newest IIMs in CAP with same candidates
With 90 percentile overall and 80 percentile sectional required in CAT 2015 and all the candidates opting for all the IIMs, these 9 IIMs appear proceeding with the CAP 2016 with same candidates as the shortlists by 6 have been announced and remaining 3 might get the candidates from the same shortlists.

Except IIM Rohtak, all other IIMs namely IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur have same shortlisting criteria based solely on CAT 2015 scores. Out of 6 newest IIMs, IIM BodhGaya and IIM Sirmaur have announced their shortlisting criteria while IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Visakhapatnam are yet to announce their admission policy for PGP 2016-18 batch. With the announcement of 3 more IIMs participating in CAP 2016, it appears that same admission policy has been adopted by these 3 newest IIMs.

13000 candidates in CAP 2016
New and newest IIMs would have an intake of not fewer than 140 candidates each as per the decision taken in the Cabinet meeting of Government of India on June 24, 2015 and was conveyed by MHRD. Accordingly, each of the 9 IIMs will have to shortlist around 1400 candidates who have scored the desired percentile in CAT 2015 as per their admission parameters.
