DTE Maharashtra will conduct 2 stage admission process for MBA/MMS 2016-18 batch in Maharashtra B schools. The first step is the conduct of MAHCET 2016 and the next step is Centralized Admission Process (CAP) before offering admission to the candidates.

MAHCET 2016: Online CBT exam
MAHCET 2016 will be an online computer based test to be conducted on March 12 & March 13, 2016. The exam will be equally useful for the outside Maharashtra candidates as number of seats in the management institutes in Maharashtra will remain open for admission to such candidates. MAH CET 2016 would have 200 Multiple Choice Questions divided in 3 sections namely Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; Quantitative Aptitude –Data interpretation; Logical and Abstract reasoning. These questions are to be answered in 150 minutes. The test has no negative marking. The number of questions per section is not fixed and may have equal or different proportion.

CAP 2016: Final Admission round
DTE Maharashtra would conduct Centralized Admission Process (CAP) after the declaration of MAHCET 2016 result expected on March 29, 2016, and would offer admission in the respective B schools like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya in accordance with the merit of the students. In 2015 DTE Maharashtra had a reservation of 65% seats for Maharashtra domicile candidates and kept other seats for All India and other category candidates.

Going by the past trend it can be assumed that 35% seats out of the 59000 seats would be available to outside Maharashtra candidates. The number therefore for non Maharashtra candidates is supposed to be around 21000. Probably this is the reason why more candidates from other states appear in MAHCET than any other state level MBA entrance exam.

Registration mandatory: Choice to skip the exam
You may appear or may not appear for MAHCET 2016, it is your choice. But to be considered for admission in any of the Maharashtra B schools, and to be considered for MBA/MMS course in JBIMS and other top B-schools with DTE regulated fee structure, it is mandatory to register for MAHCET 2016 so that your All India exam scores can be taken into consideration.

In case you wish to appear in MAHCET 2016 exam as well, you can sure do so with no additional fee to be paid for the same. If you have appeared in other All India MBA entrance tests like CAT 2015, XAT 2016, CMAT 2016 and have their valid scores, you may register and apply to DTE Maharashtra to participate in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2016.

Please note to appear or not to appear in MAHCET 2016 is your choice but to participate in CAP 2016 is mandatory.  However it is advisable to appear in MAHCET 2016 and further improve your scores to explore better admission opportunity. It will not be out of place to mention that best of all the scores of the candidate will be taken into consideration by DTE Maharashtra for MBA/MMS admission process 2016.
