De-reservation policy at JBIMS Mumbai shall brighten the chances for all the candidates exploring admission opportunity in the B-school
JBIMS Mumbai follows the 'de-reservation policy' implying conversion of reserved seats into open for all candidates

The de-reservation policy at JBIMS Mumbai shall brighten the chances for all the candidates exploring admission opportunity in the B-school.  JBIMS Mumbai follows the ‘de-reservation policy’  implying conversion of reserved seats into open for all candidates. The policy allows that all the open or other category candidates will be considered for admission at JBIMS in case suitable candidates for the reserved 60 seats do not take admission in JBIMS.

JBIMS Mumbai has an intake of 120 seats for MMS and 30 for M Sc Finance for the batch 2016-18.

Out of the intake of 120 MMS seats 60 seats are reserved for all backward class category students only from State of Maharashtra and 60 Seats are open for both eligible Maharashtra State and outside Maharashtra State candidates.  Backward class category students from States other than Maharashtra are also covered under the Open category. According to JBIMS, ‘De-reservation policy (conversion of "reserved seats" into "open for all") will be applicable in dearth of suitable candidates for seats reserved.’

18 additional seats
In addition to the 120 students, 18 seats will be kept for NRIs/Foreign Nationals/PIOs and Children of workers in Gulf countries and 1 seat for J&K migrants. In case these 19 seats go vacant, they will not be provided to any other candidate under any circumstances.

In accordance with above provision of de-reservation policy, good chances are there that you could get admission opportunity in JBIMS Mumbai, if you have scored high in MAHCET 2016/ CAT 2015/ XAT 2016/CMAT 2016 or MAT 2015 or 2016 and are shortlisted for Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2016 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra.

JBIMS: Admission through CAP 2016
JBIMS has come back to the Centralized Admission Process of DTE Maharashtra for admission 2016 after enjoying one year of independence of autonomy.

In the academic session 2015-16, JBIMS Mumbai was granted the status of autonomous institute affiliated to Mumbai University. Although the B schools accepted MAHCET scores but it conducted its own Personal Interview (PI) round and was not a part of Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra. Besides, JBIMS launched its own admission application process which was closed much earlier than DTE issued notification for MAHCET exam.  Not only this, for last year admission JBIMS did not accept CMAT/MAT/ATMA etc scores. Only CAT and MH-CET scores were considered as the qualifying exams for admission to JBIMS.

However, for admission 2016 entire process has changed and all the scores are acceptable as JBIMS has announced ‘Admission for Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai for two years Masters in Management Studies (MMS) programme will be done through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra.’

Components of CAP 2016
After the candidates are shortlisted for next stage of admission round, they will be called for in-person assessment and will be scored on the basis of their performance in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2016 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra at various centres in the State of Maharashtra.

The evaluation criteria will take into account the complete personality of the candidate, which includes various parameters like score in the exam; extra-curricular activities and other significant achievements.

Work experience is also a component of the CAP round but if a fresher has other substantial credentials, he/she can cover up in other parameters. Work-experience alone would not be the deciding criteria.
No separate application for JBIMS

Last year candidates had to apply separate to JBIMS but for MMS admission 2016 there is no need to apply separately to JBIMS. The candidate will now be allotted the seat in the B-school through the CAP round.

MAHCET 2016 scores you need for JBIMS
DTE Maharashtra will declare MAHCET 2016 result on March 29, 2016 on the basis of equi-percentile process. Going by the trend of securing admission in JBIMS, it can be anticipated that a candidate with 153 out 200 maximum marks scored in MAHCET 2016 can get admission in JBIMS. The 100 percentiler in MAHCET 2016 may score around 163 to 165 marks and the candidate with 153 marks may get a percentile of 99.

The scoring pattern also depends upon the difficulty level across the 4 sessions of MAHCET 2016. The deviation of percentile may be due to this fact also and a candidate with lower marks can score higher percentile whereas a candidate with higher marks may score a lower percentile.

Another key fact in award of percentile is the adopting of reference base in the process. It may also affect the award of percentile process. The admission in JBIMS is based on the MAHCET 2016 percentile score and not on raw marks, hence it is necessary that you score high in each section apart from scoring high percentile overall. Accordingly there could be top 100 percentilers from all the 4 sessions scoring varying marks who would be getting admission offers to JBIMS in CAP round.
