FLAME University Pune, in association with ET Cases, will organize 2nd edition of FLAME International Case Conference (FICC) on July 15 & 16, 2016 at its campus in Pune

With an aim to make case study an integral part of MBA education and to bring more innovations in this pedagogical platform, FLAME University Pune, in association with ET Cases, will organize the 2nd edition of the FLAME International Case Conference (FICC) on July 15 & 16, 2016 at its campus in Pune.

Sharing the idea behind the case conference, Dr. Devi Singh, Vice Chancellor, FLAME University said, “The FLAME International Case Conference (FICC), in true spirit of FLAME University’s focus on liberal education, has invited submission of teaching cases from across multiple academic disciplines viz., Business management, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.” 

The first edition of this conference was held in July 2015 and had a panel discussion on ‘Learner Centred Pedagogical Approaches'. The panel comprised senior dignitaries from ET Cases, Harvard Business Publishing, IVEY India and FLAME School of Business. 35 cases contributed by 56 authors affiliated to 35 different institutions/universities/firms from across India were presented in the first edition of this conference. 

Key highlights of the 2016 Conference

According to Dr. Devi Singh, Vice Chancellor, FLAME University, “The University through this conference, has demonstrated leadership by conceiving a case conference which intends to bring together industry professionals, scholars and academicians from multiple disciplines to discuss and promote the use of case method across all learning domains. The FLAME International Case Conference contributes to the higher education ecosystem by its innovative cross-disciplinary approach and creation of knowledge in the form of case studies.”

The 3 major highlights of the FLAME International Case Conference 2016 are:

-- Multidisciplinary: Given the liberal education roots of FLAME University, the conference invites case submissions from across multiple disciplines such as Business Management, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. This would provide a platform for case writers from across disciplines to get rich feedback from varied audiences to further enrich their cases.

-- Industry Experiences/Cases: A special track to share documented industry experiences in audio/written/video format is being provided to corporate executives to showcase their unique and innovative industry experiences to a wider audience of academicians, researchers and professionals. This will enable them to seek feedback from such diversified audiences to further refine their real life practice and decision-making.

-- FLAME – ET Cases Awards: FLAME in association with ET cases has instituted 3 awards to encourage high levels of scholastic case development. These awards are: Best Case Writer, Young Case Writer and Industry Experience Case Award.

Key objectives of the FLAME Centre for Case Development (FCCD) at FLAME University

FLAME University has established the FLAME Centre for Case Development to make it a case repository in order to bring innovations and cased based pedagogy in the education system. There are several popular case repositories like HBS Educator, Ivy Publishing, ECCH, Science Case Network, ET Cases, Asian IT Cases Series etc. from where instructors can source teaching cases for their courses and now another one is established at FLAME. The Center’s mission is to “Emerge as a well-known repository of quality cases by 2025 in all such professional disciplines which are taught at FLAME and where case method of teaching can be successfully deployed.” 

The key objectives of FCCD are:

-- To act as a platform for case writers to improve their cases through the constructive feedback received from the reviewers and conference participants.

-- To encourage the development of cases dealing with issues faced by Indian organizations / institutions.

-- To create a platform for executives and professionals to present their experiences and cases.
