Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA), a consortium of more than 150 B-schools in Karnataka, is organizing KMAT 2016 on May 29. This year, there are many new initiatives taken by KPPGCA to make KMAT more accessible to candidates all over the country. MBAUniverse.com spoke to KPPGCA leadership team to understand the background and benefits. Please tell us about KMAT exam. What’s the objective of holding this test?
Conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA), KMAT is the gateway to more than 150+ AICTE-approved University-affiliated B-schools in Bangalore and Karnataka. Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is being held since 2003 to facilitate ACITE-approved and University-affiliated Business Schools to screen candidates for admission to AICTE approved MBA, PGDM and MCA programs in Bangalore and rest of Karnataka institutes. The test is permitted by Government of Karnataka and is monitored in accordance with Supreme Court judgment of 2005.

How many institutions are participating in KMAT 2016? Will they all accept KMAT exam?
KMAT 2016 is accepted by 150+ MBA/PGDM/MCA programs in Karnataka and Bangalore. Accepting institutions include Acharya Institute of Management and Sciences (AIMS), Alliance University, Indus Business Academy (IBA), IFIM Business School, MP Birla Institute, M S Ramaiah, Mount Carmel, PESIT and many more. Q: When will the exam be held and how can candidates register?

Q: What is the uniqueness of KMAT 2016?
The biggest uniqueness of KMAT 2016 is that it will be an All India exam that will be held in more than 10 cities all across the country and is open to candidates from all parts of India and Abroad. This is the first time we are going National with KMAT exam for the benefit of candidates from any part of India who meet the eligibility criteria can take this test in all parts of India. KMAT 2016 will be conducted across the country in Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, New Delhi, Noida, Patna and Pune.

The other uniqueness of KMAT is that it’s a Gateway to Bangalore, Silicon Valley of India and Karnataka, India’s hottest investment destination.

Q: Please share a few facts about Destination Karnataka and Bangalore that are relevant to MBA and MCA applicants?
Karnataka has emerged as the most preferred business hub offering more job opportunities in almost all the sectors like Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Human Resource management, IT/ITES, Operations amongst others. With a GDP of US$ 120 billion growing at 7% annually, the State of Karnataka has an industrial output of US$61.5 billion and Foreign Direct Investment of US$18.30 billion.

As we all know, Bangalore, also called the ‘Silicon Valley of India’, is a hub of business, entrepreneurship and also higher education. It headquarters of leading IT companies like Wipro Technologies, and Infosys. Virtually every IT company including TCS, HCL, Dell and Cognizant have large set ups in Bangalore. Almost all companies like Tata Group, Reliance, Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra Group, ICICI Bank has big business offices in Bangalore. Many of the hottest start-ups like Flipkart, Ola, Practo all have their headquarters in Bangalore, making the city Start-up Capital of India.
