IIM Visakhapatnam has published the Phase 1 shortlist of candidates for PGP 2016-18 batch and have categorically asked all the shortlisted candidates to reconfirm their interest by end of day on April 28, 2016 i.e. today.
Only those candidates who applied for IIM Visakhapatnam at the time of CAT 2015 registration and have been shortlisted by IIM Visakhapatnam for further admission process, have received an email from IIMV to reconfirm their interest. In case the candidates do not re-confirm their interest for admission to IIMV despite getting the email, they will not be considered for subsequent stages of the admission process. However, the details of next stage of the admissions process are yet to be announced.
In case mail not received
If you have not received the email from IIM Visakhapatnam, please check whether your email address as provided in the CAT 2015 registration form has become invalid. If this is the case, please immediately send an email to [email protected] along with your CAT ID No., making such a request.
On receiving the mail from you, the mentor IIM Bangalore will send you the necessary instructions. You should follow the instructions sent to you by IIM Bangalore from @iimb.ernet.in or @iimv.ac.in. Please manage your spam folders accordingly.
Next phase of admission at IIMV
In Phase-2, from among the reconfirmed candidates a second shortlist will be announced for the personal interview stage. Candidates who have been shortlisted in phase-2 of IIMV, but have also been shortlisted/interviewed for PGP 2016 by any of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Indore, Lucknow, will not have to appear for personal interview for IIM Visakhapatnam. Their scores on the personal interviews/Written AbilityTest at these IIMs will be considered by IIMV.
Only the candidates who have been shortlisted in phase-2 of IIMV, but have not been shortlisted and interviewed by any of the listed 5 IIMs will be required to appear for WAT and PI to be conducted by IIMV.
Eligible candidates
IIM Bangalore, the mentor institute of IIM Visakhapatnam has sent an email, at the email address provided by the candidate in CAT 2015 registration form, to the candidates meeting the shortlisting criteria. Only the candidates who applied to IIM Visakhapatnam at the time of CAT 2015 registration and all the candidates who meet the eligibility condition as narrated in the Admissions Process document have been sent the email.
Two of the major admission requirements for Phase-1 of the admission process at IIM Visakhapatnam are that the candidates should have opted for IIM Visakhapatnam during registration for CAT 2015 and that the candidates should have secured the minimum percentile in CAT 2015 as per the admission policy announced by IIM Visakhapatnam for each category.
Academic session to commence in July 2016
IIM Visakhapatnam proposes to commence its academic session from the 3rd week of July 2016.
IIM Visakhapatnam: Fee structure
Fee for PGP 2016-18 as announced by IIM Visakhapatnam is INR 10.5 lakhs for the 2 year programme. Exact amount and details of breakup will be given in the admission offer.
You will need to pay an initial acceptance fee of INR 50000. More details about the payment will be sent along with the admission offer.
3 Stage selection process
IIM Visakhapatnam has adopted a 3-phase selection process and accordingly these selection criteria are applied in three phases. The selection process, parameters and weights used are uniform for all categories of applicants. Sufficient candidates will be short listed at each stage in each category to meet the reservation requirement for each group, as applicable. According to IIM Visakhapatnam “The admission process seeks to identify the most promising candidates for the PGP batch of 2016 for IIMV. IIMV uses multiple parameters, namely academic performance in 10th standard examination, 12th standard examination and Bachelor’s degree examination, candidates’ scores in CAT, as well as performance in Personal Interview and Writen Ability Test to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP program. Relevant work experience, if any, is also given weight in the selection.”
The first short list of candidates is based on candidates securing minimum section-wise and aggregate percentile scores in the CAT. This means that the CAT 2015 score alone (for candidates who have applied for IIM Visakhapatnam) is used as the basis for arriving at the first short list.
Only those candidates who reconfirm their interest by end of day today, for admission to PGP 2016-18 of IIM Visakhapatnam will henceforth be referred as Qualified Confirmed Candidates for the 2nd phase of admission process. These candidates only will be considered in Phase 2 of the admission process.
The temporary campus at IIM Visakhapatnam is not equipped with on campus hostel accommodation and candidates shall have to move to off campus hostel accommodation. While IIM Visakhapatnam operates from Andhra University campus, it has arranged the hostel accommodation at Falcon’s Nest Plot No 27/28, Ramaraju Nagar, Near Prasanthi Nagar Pedda Waltair, Visakhapatnam-530017.
IIM Visakhapatnam is the first among the 6 new IIMs that started operation in 2015 to achieve the summer placement for the entire first batch. Summer Placement season for the first batch PGP class of 2015-17 of the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) successfully concluded with 33 companies recruiting all 48 participating students from the batch of 49, while one student opted out to pursue a startup effort.
IIM Visakhapatnam came into being in 2015 as one of the 6 IIMs announced in the Union Budget 2014. While 5 of the 6 IIMs got finalized in the Budget 2014, the fate of IIM Visakhapatnam took the final shape in the Budget 2015 till then it remained a Government Ordinance entity. IIM Bangalore is the mentor IIM to IIM Visakhapatnam. Classes at IIM Visakhapatnam are held at the temporary premises allotted to it at Andhra University campus and will continue at the temporary campus till the 300 acre campus of IIM Visakhapatnam gets ready.
