823 students of the constituent colleges of Alliance University received the MBA, BBA, LLM, BCom, MCom Degrees; Post Graduate Diplomas in Management and Diplomas in Performing Arts

The fourth convocation of Alliance University was held on Friday, 18th December 2015 in the Central Campus of Alliance University at Anekal in  the august presence of  His Excellency Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka and Visitor, Alliance University; Shri D.H.Shankaramurthy, Honorable Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri T.B.Jayachandra, Honorable Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Higher Education, and Chairman, Karnataka State Higher Education Council, who is also the  Pro-Visitor, Alliance University.

Alliance University conferred doctorates (honoris causa) on the Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Santosh Hegde, former Karnataka Lokayukta and judge of the Supreme Court, the Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Kumar, sitting judge of the Karnataka High Court and Gandhian Smt. Ela Ramesh Bhatt (in absentia) during the Convocation.  Two students of the year 2011 batch of Alliance School of Business received their Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees from His Excellency the Governor of Karnataka.  A few of the rank holders also received their medals and Certificates of Merit from the Governor.

In his address, the Honorable Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Higher Education, Shri T.B. Jayachandra stressed on Universities maintaining their quality to keep up with the competition.  Further, he reiterated that Universities need to focus more on its research content along with the teaching content.  He made a mention about the Information & Communication Technology initiatives of the Department of Higher Education, and its role in benefitting the student community.  In his address, the Honorable Minister requested the Universities to appoint talented, performance-oriented and professionals as a part of the teaching community.

His Excellency, the Governor of Karnataka, Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala reiterated that the students play a vital role in safeguarding the interests of the country and its culture.  He quoted from the works of Swami Vivekananda during his address, and said the present curriculum of universities should have a place for Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.  He further said that, the country is very young in terms of the age of the population, with a large number of young students, and the Indian student community should lead the whole world in the coming decades.

In total, 823 students of the constituent colleges of Alliance University received the MBA, BBA, LLM, BCom, MCom Degrees; Post Graduate Diplomas in Management and Diplomas in  Performing Arts during the  convocation.  The Degrees were conferred to the students by Shri D.H.Shankaramurthy, Honorable Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council and Shri T.B.Jayachandra, Honorable Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Higher Education, and Chairman, Karnataka State Higher Education Council, and Pro-Visitor, Alliance University.

The convocation was attended by its past students, some with their parents/friends/guardians.  The students and Faculty Members of all the constituent schools and colleges were also present during the convocation.  The people’s representatives local bodies Shri B. Shivanna, MLA, Anekal and Shri B.T. Dayananda Reddy, MLC, Bengaluru graced the occasion.  Shri K.M. Nataraj, Additional Solicitor General, Government of India made his presence for the Convocation.
