XAT 2017 for the first time in past many years will be conducted on the 2nd Sunday of January
Kindly note that the test date (XAT) is on Sunday, January 08, 2017 XLRI Official

XAT 2017, Xavier School of Management (XLRI) Jamshedpur will conduct Xavier Aptitude Test on January 8, 2017. This is the first time during the past many years that XAT 2017 will be conducted on 2nd Sunday of January instead of the first.

Sharing the information on exam date XLRI official has confirmed “Kindly note that the test date (XAT) is on Sunday, January 08, 2017.” XAT is conducted on the first Sunday of January every year and XLRI never tries to break this legacy of 60 years in convening the exam. However, since the first Sunday of January 2017 is on first January which is also a declared holiday and is the day of celebration, conducting XAT 2017 on January 1 might have not been proper.

The registration for XAT 2017 is proposed to open in the last week of August, 2016. The format of XAT 2017 would remain pen-paper based. XAT 2017 scores will be used by XLRI and other XAMI institutions and also by more than 100 other associated B-schools for admission to MBA/PGDM 2017-19 programme.

Last year in XAT 2016 around 90,000 students registered and applied for the exam, making it second most popular exam after CAT.

XAT 2017: Exam pattern
XAT 2017 is going to be on the similar pattern like last many years with no change in the pattern and syllabus. XLRI has been conducting Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pencil mode. XAT which is aimed to select the most appropriate candidates who wish to pursue management education still goes in paper pen mode.

Giving the rationale for retaining the exam in pen-paper mode, XLRI said, “The format of XAT would remain pen-paper based. This is to ensure that candidates of all backgrounds are at par, so that those who have pre-familiarity of operating computers, specially coming from privileged background or having worked in IT sector, do not get any advantage over others who do not have access to computers. The paper-pen mode also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.”
