CAT 2016: Registration starts on August 8 at higher fee; key points to note beforehand

CAT 2016 registration and application window will open on Monday August 8, at 10 AM and will close on September 22, at 5 PM. In the press release, Prof. Rajendra K. Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016 and faculty at IIM Bangalore, has confirmed that CAT 2016 will be held on December 4, 2016 on the same pattern as was held last year.

The registration fee for CAT 2016 has been increased from Rs.1600/- to Rs.1700/-. Now, the CAT 2016 aspirants shall have to shell out more to appear in CAT this year.

Sharing the key dates of registration process for CAT 2016, the CAT Centre has informed “Online registration for CAT 2016 begins on Monday, 8th August 2016 10:00 a.m. and closes on Thursday, 22nd September 2016 05:00 p.m. Additional instructions for online registration and the application process will be available in the Registration Guide and Registration video published on the website”

However the necessary registration guide and registration video are yet to be enabled by CAT Centre 2016.

46 days Registration window
The registration process for CAT 2016 will remain open for 46 days till 5 PM on September 22.

CAT 2016 increases Registration fee
The registration fee for CAT 2016 is Rs.1700/- (increased from 1600/-). The registration process is online only and the payment of the registration fee is also to be made online by net banking; Debit card; credit card. There is no offline payment facility to register and apply for CAT 2016. Reserved category candidates will have to pay Rs.850/- towards registration fee.

After ensuring that you are eligible to apply and can appear in CAT 2016, the most important step is to go through the guidelines available on IIMCAT website for CAT 2016 registration.

Time bound exercise
The Registration and application for CAT 2016 is a time bound exercise as the default time fixed by IIM Bangalore to keep the registration window open is of only 30 minutes for one instance. In case of not completing the process in time, or not saving the filled in information, you will be required to login again to complete the process.

Wrong information to render you disqualified
Not filling up the required information or filling up any wrong information during the CAT 2016 registration may render the candidate disqualified even if he or she secures a high percentile in the exam.

Key points to note
Important information points that you should note and follow at the time of registration are-

-- No paper work required in CAT 2016 registration

-- No option of self-scheduling the exam in CAT 2016 registration window is available nor you may choose the date, session and test centre as per your choice

-- CAT 2016 registration will require valid and unique email address. All correspondence until CAT 2016 is over and during the selection stage will be communicated using this email address.

-- CAT 2016 registration window will close by default on completion of allotted maximum time which may not be more than 30 minutes. In case of non completion of registration, you will need to login again

-- When the CAT 2016 registration link opens on August 8, the CAT 2016 aspirants going to register for the exam, should open the link by clicking on “Register” instead of going to ‘existing user’.

-- The fee for CAT 2016 registration is to be paid online only

-- If you have made a mistake in filling out details for those fields which will affect selection process, such as Percentage of Marks, Category, Gender, Work Experience, it will be better to re-register with a new email ID and repayment of registration fee.

-- If your CAT 2016 application is submitted with successful online payment of examination fees, uploaded images of photo and signature of required size, you will see Application Summary and Download Application Form else the registration form will remain incomplete.

CAT 2016 Registration form with 20 IIMs
CAT 2016 registration form will consist of all the 20 IIMs along with the details of various management programmes offered by all the IIMs. Admission to all these management programmes will be available after scoring the required percentile in CAT 2016 and subsequent process.

CAT 2016 is the mandatory exam for admission to all the 20 IIMs. CAT 2016 will be held on December 4, 2016 in 138 test cities of 21 states across the country. The exam will be on the same pattern as of last year.  CAT 2016,  a single day 2 session exam will consist of 3 sections to be solved in 3 hours with individual sectional time limit of 60 minutes. Total number of questions in CAT 2016 will be 100.
