CAT 2016: Registration Alert! No-edit option in personal details; mistake needs re-registration with fee repayment

You cannot change the details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number among others at any stage in the CAT 2016 registration and application process

You may lose your, if you make a mistake in entering the details in registration form. CAT 2016 registration process does not allow you to edit certain personal details either before or after submitting the application, in case any mistake is made in filling up these details. If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID, make payment of fee again and on the top of it there will be no refund to your earlier paid registration fee of Rs.1700/-

IIM Bangalore, the CAT 2016 convening authority has clarified that you cannot change the details like Name, Date of Birth, email id, mobile number among others at any stage in the CAT 2016 registration and application process.

IIM Bangalore opened the CAT 2016 Registration and application process on August 8 at 10AM and proposes to close it on September 22, 2016. The registration fee is Rs. 1700/- for CAT 2016 and there is no additional fee to apply to any of the 20 IIMs.

No refund: Admit card only for new registration
Your CAT 2016 application will be considered for the latest registration and the Admit Card will be issued for the same. You will also not receive a refund or Admit Card for your earlier registration. Please note that failure to re-register in such circumstances may lead to nullification of your candidature.

Details with No edit option
You will not be able to modify any of the following details in CAT 2016 registration:

-- Any details entered in the Personal Details section,

-- Any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences.

You can only view and print after this. Details are available on the application submission page.

Preview before submission
You must preview your application before submission to ensure that all the details are correct. It is important that you preview the application form, using the Preview Application button to check for accuracy and completeness of all the data you have entered, before proceeding with the payment. You can preview your application at any stage and any number of times before submitting your application.

According to CAT Centre 2016 ‘It is mandatory to select the check boxes :“I have previewed the Application Form by clicking on the Preview Application Button and confirm that all the data reflecting in the Preview are correct” and “I Agree” in the Declaration section before you click the Submit and Pay button and proceed to the payment gateway. It is also important to read the complete Declaration before you select the I Agree check box.’

Details that can be edited
You can edit some personal details until you submit the Application Form. Afterwards this option will also not be available. The details that can be edited are :-

-- Communication Address,

-- Gender,

-- Category,

-- Academic information,

-- Work experience,

-- Exam city preferences

How to edit
To edit the allowed details as described above, you must click the Existing User Login option on the CAT 2016 website and proceed accordingly.

Limited time window to edit limited details
After you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which you can modify the limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected.

IIM Bangalore advises…
The CAT 2016 convening IIMB advises to take following steps to avoid any errors in registration process-

-- Read the instructions at the start of the form before you begin filling the information.

-- You can logout and exit the form any number of times to edit and complete later or Save & Continue each sections till you submit the application.

-- Remember, you will not be allowed to continue, if mandatory information is not entered or the required Certificates are not uploaded.

-- After you complete the last section by making payment of Rs.1700/- or Rs.850/- as the case may be towards CAT 2016 registration fee, your application for CAT 2016 will be considered complete and you will receive a confirmation mail.

-- Post this, changes to any information provided on the application form are not possible. You can only print or save the form from the website.

CAT 2016 exam will be held as computer based test in 138 test cities across the country on December 4, 2016 in morning and afternoon sessions. The exam will consist of 3 sections namely Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension; Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning; and Quantitative Aptitude. The duration of the exam will be of 3 hours with sectional time limit of 1 hour each.
