MDI Gurgaon: Admission needs high percentile in CAT 2016; sectional & overall score important

MDI Gurgaon, the highly ranked premier B-school in India has announced and opened the online admission application process for flagship PGPM/PGP-HRM and PGP-IM 2017-19 batch from September 5, 2016. Going by the past trend, you will need high percentile in CAT 2016 to get shortlisted by MDI Gurgaon for 2nd stage of admission round.

The application process is proposed to close on December 2, 2016 at 5 PM. CAT 2016 is the only exam, scores of which will be accepted by MDI Gurgaon to shortlist candidates for second phase of admission round 2017.

MDI Gurgaon although considers good sectional scores, overall CAT 2016 percentile will be the principal shortlisting criterion for GD/PI round of MDI Gurgaon.

Top rated B-schools like MDI would accept only CAT 2016 score to shortlist candidates for admission in their flagship MBA/PGDM 2017-19 batch. MDI Gurgaon is such first highly ranked B-school that has started the admission application process for 2017-19 batch.

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016, gateway to PGPM programmes to MDI Gurgaon and other premier B schools like IIMs, SPJIMR, IMT is scheduled to be held on December 4, 2016 across 138 test cities in India at more than 650 test venues.  CAT 2016 aspirants apart from registering and appearing in CAT 2016 exam need to apply to MDI Gurgaon to seek admission in 2017 latest by December 2, 2016.

MDI Gurgaon will use CAT 2016 scores to shortlist the candidates for final admission round 2017, however IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in conducting the programme at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.

Eligibility 

-- The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.
-- The candidate must have minimum 3 year’s Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
-- Candidates appearing for the final examination for the Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent examination) and completing all requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree by 30th June, 2017 can also apply.

Apply online only: Fee Rs.2200/-
Applicants have to apply online by visiting MDI website http://www.mdi.ac.in. They can click on the programme they wish to apply for and follow the instructions given on the website. Online registration will be Open till December 2, 2016 17:00 hrs. Candidates have to make an online payment of Rs 2200/- using Credit/Debit card/Net Banking.

One Application form for all programmes
Applicants need to fill only single application form. The preferences of PGPM/PGP-HRM/ PGP-IM will be taken only from the shortlisted candidates in the month of January/February 2017. The shortlisted candidates have to login at MDI website and enter their order of preference for PGPM/PGP-IM/PGP-HRM. Preferences once filled will not be changed at any stage later on.

Final selection after GD/PI/WAT
Candidates who appear in CAT 2016 will be short listed on the basis of the details filled in the application form and their CAT 2016 scores. Only the short listed candidates will then be called for Group Discussion, Written Test and Personal Interviews during February and March 2017 at one of the centers, viz. Bangalore, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai (centers other than Gurgaon are tentative).

MDI to award weightage for Academic Diversity
MDI Gurgaon like top IIMs propose to further improve academic diversity in its class room. As such the highly ranked B-school will also consider academic diversity in final section process and will award due weightage also to this factor.

CAT 2016: Mandatory exam
CAT 2016 to be held on December 4, 2016 is the mandatory exam for seeking admission in MDI Gurgaon in 2017. A high percentile score of high percentile in CAT 2016 will be needed to get shortlisted for admission into this highly ranked B-school.

MDI Gurgaon is one of the most preferred B-schools in India and is found a better opportunity instead of many IIMs.
