CAT 2016 aspirants requested for certain changes in the registration form regarding the elimination of hidden age bar and adding Noida as test city

CAT 2016 Registration form has been suitably modified by IIM Bangalore, the CAT 2016 convening IIM after incorporating the demands raised by the aspirants. Way back in the month of June MBAUniverse.com took up the Aspirants’ demands with CAT convener at IIM Bangalore wherein CAT 2016 aspirants requested for certain changes in the registration form regarding the elimination of hidden age bar and adding Noida as test city.

MBAUniverse.com carried forward these demands of the aspirants before the CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty and admission chair at IIM Bangalore http://www.mbauniverse.com/article/id/9551/CAT-2016 . Most of these demands of the aspirants have readily been accepted by IIM Bangalore by bringing about certain changes in CAT 2016 Registration process.

Hidden Age Bar: Eliminated in CAT 2016 Registration
MBAUniverse.com was approached by many CAT 2016 aspirants including retired bureaucrats, professors of eminent institutes, PSU executives among others whether they will be allowed to take CAT 2016 since they had completed their bachelor’s degree in the old pattern from the universities who used to award 2 years duration bachelor’s degree.

CAT registration form used to ask the aspirant who completed graduation in 2 years to fill in 3 years. Despite allowing the people who completed their graduation as 2 years course as per the then existing pattern, did not have correct space to accommodate the issue in the registration form. The registration form in last year CAT did not allow to move further unless the information was filled in the following format

Month/Year of Course Commencement:

 July 1982

Month/Year of Course Completion:

June 1985

Amended form
Acceding to the request of middle and old age aspirants Prof Rajendra K Bandi, convener CAT 2016 and faculty IIM Bangalore has taken pain to modify the CAT 2016 registration form instead of simply asking the aspirants to fill in the 3 years bachelor’s degree and thus saving them from any unwarranted embarrassing situation.

Now the CAT 2016 registration form has done away with this problem and the academics page has got an option to fill up 2 years of bachelor’s degree-

It may be noted that in middle 80’s, Universities in India had switched over to 3 year graduation pattern from the earlier existing 2 year graduation degree course. CAT 2016 aspirants who are above 50 years of age but still wish to pursue PGP from an IIM were in dilemma whether they would be allowed to pursue management course from an IIM and requested IIM Bangalore to carry out this change since they have the 2 years graduation degree as per the old pattern as existed in most of the Indian universities.

NOIDA: Now designated as Test Centre
Since 2014 Noida has remained out of the list of CAT test cities although Greater Noida the suburb of Noida was included as one of the test centres. Candidates had to face a good amount of trouble reaching Greater Noida especially in the morning session as in absence of availability of conveyance and dense fog on the way, it was difficult for them to reach the test venue.

Candidates had to make a big hole in their pocket by shelling out a good amount of money, if they chose to travel even by an auto-rickshaw or taxi as the fare is also not very well regulated and when you are in need, you may expect any irrelevant fare hike.

Hundreds of candidates requested to designate Noida in Delhi NCR as one of the test centres for CAT 2016. MBAUniverse.com carried forward their demand to CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty at IIM Bangalore. Acceding to the demand of aspirants, CAT 2016 exam convener has added Noida in the registration form as one of the test centres.

In fact till 2013 Noida continued to be one of the test cities for CAT exam. But since 2014 the test venue has been only Greater Noida which is around 25-35 Km away from Noida.

Besides Noida is well connected by Metro, Govt regulated bus service and other numerous public transport system and adding Noida as one the test cities will sure help the test takers to avoid many problems.

Other demands of the aspirants were related to CAT 2016 exam structure and content which could call for absolute changes in CAT and thus could not be considered.

CAT 2016 exam will be held on Sunday December 4, 2016 in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each in 138 test cities and more than 650 testing venues. IIM Bangalore is convening CAT 2016 with TCS as partnering testing agency.

Registration process for CAT 2016 got opened on August 8, and will close on September 22, 2016 at 5 PM. If you wish to appear in CAT 2016, it is the right time to register as during the last few days you may encounter technical problems in the registration process due to heavy rush. Although IIM Bangalore has taken care to accommodate lakhs of candidates but going by the past trend due to one or other reason, problem comes up in the CAT site during the last days of registration.
