CAT 2016 registration number may increase from last year going by the rising trend in the MBA placements
These are not only top IIMs but also other B-schools where placement 2016 has seen remarkable increase in highest and average salaries with more recruiters making offers

CAT 2016 registration number may increase and break past 6 year record as more aspirants are expected to take the exam. The motivation behind the move is said to be the rising trend in MBA placements. Almost all the top and middle rung B-schools whether IIMs, Non-IIMs, University affiliated or private PGDM institutes, all have recorded higher than last year placement in 2016 with more recruiters from all sectors. The registration process for CAT 2016 is proposed to close on September 22, if not extended further as used to happen in last 2 years.

Last year total registrations for CAT were 2.18 lakhs which was the highest number during past 5 years, this year the motivation force to have even higher registration, is high placement in 2016 for MBA/PGDM.
Although the number of applicants who have registered for CAT 2016 has not yet been shared by the CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty at IIM Bangalore, the sources have revealed that it has not yet touched 1.5 lakhs while only 10 days are left to close the CAT 2016 registration.

But as it happened during the last year CAT registration process also, the registration number picked up and crossed all the past records during the last 10 days, it is very much possible that rising placement trend in MBA/PGDM B-schools will motivate more aspirants to register for CAT 2016 to explore admission opportunity in IIMs and other highly ranked B-schools.

CAT 2016: Registration number may go up
More than 1 lakh aspirants are still in the waiting mode when to register for CAT 2016. Responding to the query from MBAUniverse.com whether the registrations for CAT 2016 will surpass the last year number, Prof Rajendra K Bandi, Convener CAT 2016 and faculty IIM Bangalore categorically said “We don’t specifically work towards increasing the number of applicants.  The credibility and utility of the test influence the registrations for CAT.”

This is  true to a great extent also as registrations for CAT are driven by the fact that top B-schools including all the 20 IIMs, FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, NITIE Mumbai, IMI Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad among others will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2016.

Around 50 to 60 thousand candidates get admission to IIMs and other 100 top rated B-schools every year on the basis of CAT exam.  CAT 2016 therefore offers good opportunity to pursue MBA/PGDM from one of the top B-schools in India and this fact drives the registration number to the exam.

Registration process for CAT 2016 got opened on August 8, and it is now more than 1 month from the date of starting of registration process. In fact, the registration number picks up during the last few days and it is expected that these next 10 days will see good growth in the registration number for CAT 2016.

CAT 2016 registration offers the facility to choose 4 most preferred test cities and girl candidates will be allotted the testing venue near the city. Noida, one of the test cities for CAT till 2013 has again joined the list of Test Cities for CAT 2016 giving a sigh of relief for the candidates who have to run to Greater Noida in the early morning hours facing dense fog on the way.

CAT 2016 exam will be held on Sunday December 4, 2016 in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each in 138 test cities and more than 650 testing venues. IIM Bangalore is convening CAT 2016 with TCS as partnering testing agency.

Waiting for the last day to register for CAT 2016 might put you in some unwarranted difficult situation as CAT has the history of heavy rush during the last days of registration process. The registration process requires entering the required details, uploading the photograph & signature and finally making the payment. There could be problems due to heavy rush on the last day due to which it may cause delay in accessing and completing the registration and payment making on  the website. It will therefore be better to register during next 3-4 days.
