Inspired by his thought, MDI has laid the foundation stone of the 'S.P Kapur Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship' on February 19. The foundation stone of the center was laid by Mr. Azim Premji, Chairman, WIPRO.
According to MDI, "The idea of creation of the center was germinated when Dr Kalam told the MDI faculty that today the institutes is producing only job seekers the time has come when premier institutes of the country should also think and act for producing job givers."
The center will provide services of capable mentors to evaluate the idea and to facilitate the process of converting idea into an innovation. Speaking on the occasion Mr Azim Premji Said, "Incubators can help to look at ideas from different angels and perspective and with nuances. It will also help in learning what is right and wrong idea."
Speaking to MBAuniverse.com Dr Sujit K Basu said, "The time will come when there will dearth of jobs. To come up with this situation we need to produce job givers in terms of entrepreneurs. This incubation center will act as platform to convert ideas into viable business."
According to MDI, "It will provide assistance in business planning, finance, and accounting, sales and marketing access to business at networks, legal services and other value addition to start up a business." Infact, four students from MDI have already opt out of placements and choose to incubate their business plan.
The incubation centre will nurture the growth of entrepreneurs by providing them financial support and offer mentoring and other services like strategic guidance, access to investors and a ready-made network of contacts. According to MDI officials, "The center started with capacity building in the area of Innovation and entrepreneurship and thereafter it introduced a number of courses at Master and Doctoral Levels."
According to MDI, "The center will run various programmes in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. It will include programmes for the bottom of pyramid entrepreneurs, for various organizations and institutes." It will also undertake consultancy work and conduct research.
