Tomorrow is the last date for CAT 2016 registration as the online process closes at 5Pm on September 22 and IIM Bangalore does not propose to extend or reopen the registration for the exam.
Now with only one day left for CAT 2016 registration, aspirants have only one last day to register and apply for CAT 2016 and in case any technical problem comes up, it will be difficult to apply within the prefixed time limit.
CAT 2016 convener and IIM Bangalore faculty Prof Rajendra K Bandi has also warned the candidates against choosing the last day to register for CAT 2016 as they may face technical glitches at the last moment. Prof Bandi has categorically said “Going by the trends of previous years, there will be a huge surge in the number of registrations in the last 2-3 days, which increases the load on the servers, and can potentially impact the server response time. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to register early and avoid last minute inconvenience.”
While all the arrangements have been made by CAT 2016 exam centre to cope with the heavy rush of aspirants on last day, the last minute technical glitch of any form cannot be ruled out. Accordingly, CAT 2016 aspirants should register today or in the early hours tomorrow instead of waiting any further.
Technical problems; you might face tomorrow
Even the CAT 2016 convener has admitted that on the last day of registration, there may be technical glitches and has advised to register early.
-- Heavy rush at the last moment pressurizes the server which despite getting updated may begin throwing errors or may crash
-- Aspirants may have to wait for long due to longer response time of CAT 2016 server on the last day
-- You may get problem in getting your photograph, signature and other documents uploaded on CAT 2016 registration form. The process may take hours or may not be completed.
-- Your CAT 2016 registration fee payment may get stuck in transit. Money from your account may be debited but may not reach the destination due to the overloaded server.
Avoid afternoon hours
It is expected that the CAT 2016 registration in last 2 days will remain smooth and will function normally. But you never know what could happen on the last day of registration.
Till last year CAT registration process used to end at 11.59 midnight but for CAT 2016 the closing hour of registration is 5PM and most of the working professionals may not find time during the day due to which they might miss to register for CAT 2016.
A key fact is that the pressure due to CAT 2016 registration rush will begin mounting during afternoon hours and this may cause another difficult situation for those who do not have too much time to register.
It is therefore advisable to register latest by 11 AM in the morning tomorrow instead of afternoon hours to avoid any unpleasant situation or your money getting stuck in transit.
The best is therefore to register today and avoid getting trapped in avoidable rush hour tomorrow.
Check first! CAT 2016 registration site is accessible
Make sure that CAT 2016 registration website is accessible all the time. In the last day rush it is very much possible that the website may not work or you are not able to complete the registration and application process. In such cases you are advised to close the internet browser and try it again.
The Registration/ Application form is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. However, CAT 2016 recommends following version of Internet browser - Internet Explorer 7 to 11; Mozilla Firefox 14 to 47; Google Chrome 20 to 51.
No date extension announced
Unlike the last 2 CAT exams when the registration was either reopened or extended by IIMs, the IIM Bangalore has not announced any extension in registration date and so far the last date of CAT 2016 registration remains September 22, 2016.
Registration for CAT 2016 was opened on August 8, 2016 and will come to end tomorrow. It will be complete 46 days by the evening on Sep 22, during which CAT 2016 registration window remained open since it started. Any further wait for the date extension or anything else will not do any good and the aspirants who wish to appear in CAT 2016 should register as soon as possible.
