For the consecutive second year and following the last year process, CAT 2016 Registration and application last date has been extended for 5 more days by IIM Bangalore till Sep 27, from earlier Sep 22, 2016.
Announcing the extension in CAT 2016 Registration date CAT Centre 2016 clarifies “The deadline for submission of completed applications for CAT 2016 is extended to 5PM on September 27, 2016.”
Now the candidates who could not register in time or are facing technical glitches while completing their registration process now, may relax and finalise their CAT 2016 registration process in next 5 days. Please however, note that the extended time for CAT 2016 registration stands only upto 5PM on September 27.
The registration process for CAT 2016 was opened on Aug 8, 2016 at 10AM and the last date to register was Sept 22, 2016 till 5PM. However, IIM Bangalore the CAT 2016 convening IIM has announced an extension of 5 days following the last year CAT registration extension process which was also extended by 5 days.
CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty at IIM Bangalore was earlier up against any proposed extension of application deadline and had warned the candidates “Going by the trends of previous years, there will be a huge surge in the number of registrations in the last 2-3 days, which increases the load on the servers, and can potentially impact the server response time. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to register early and avoid last minute inconvenience.”
It appears that requests by the candidates in regard to technical glitches and slow processing by server might have compelled IIM Bangalore to extend the last date or it might be due to anticipated dip in number of registrations.
It appears that the kind gesture of CAT 2016 convening IIM Bangalore comes in the wake of heavy rush of CAT 2016 aspirants during the last week of registration. Probably, due to the grievances from thousands of prospective CAT 2016 takers for not being able to register and apply on-line in time might have caused the extension of few days in CAT 2015 registration date.
CAT 2016 aspirants who couldn’t complete their registration process till September 22, 2016 due to one or other problem will now have another opportunity to complete the registration process for CAT 2016 till 5 PM on September 27, 2016.
Key points to remember
- For CAT 2016 all the aspirants need to register on line and have to pay the necessary registration fee of Rs. 1700/- or Rs. 850/- as per the applicant’s category, on-line only through credit cards, net banking facility
- Payment of CAT 2016 registration fee is to be made after completing and inserting all the details in the last part of the registration form. It has saved aspirants from losing the money at the time of beginning of registration process.
- Allotment of test centre and slot to appear in CAT 2016 exam will be made by IIMs after the registration process is closed.
- CAT 2016 will be conducted in a single day on December 4, 2016 in 2 sessions (Morning and afternoon) only
- The facility to correct certain errors in CAT 2016 registration form will be available from October 1 to 5, 2016.
