CAT 2016 registration number has broken past 6 years record with 6% increase over last year. The number in CAT 2016 has surpassed 2.32 lakh candidates registered for the exam. Sharing with MBAUniverse.com Prof Rajendra K Bandi Convener CAT 2016 and faculty at IIM Bangalore says “Total applications as at 5:00p.m. (closing time) on September 27, 2016 are 2,32,434.” Total candidates registered for last year CAT were 218664.
With this surprising volume of candidates, CAT 2016 registration which was extended by 5 more days from Sep 22 to Sep 27, 2017 stood closed at 5 PM. The registration count for CAT 2016 is up by 13770 candidates in comparison to registrations in CAT 2015.

CAT 2016 registration was opened on August 8, and after allowing a 46 days registration window was proposed to be closed on September 22, 2016. But number of candidates missed their CAT 2016 registration.
The registration data on September 22 at 3.30 PM had already crossed 2.08 lakhs mark which was much higher as the registration count for the same period last year was 1.83 lakhs.
Keeping in view of the genuine requests of the candidates, CAT 2016 Centre subsequently decided to extend the last date of CAT 2016 registration for another 5 days from September 22 to September 27, 2017 to cope with the number avoiding technical problems. The registration now finally stands closed with 232434 candidates registered for CAT 2016.
There are 138 test cities and more than 650 test venues where CAT 2016 will be conducted in a single day on December 4, 2016 in morning and afternoon sessions. The Admit Card for CAT 2016 can be downloaded from October 18 onwards.
