FMS Delhi: MBA Admission 2017-19 process delayed by a month; confusion among candidates

FMS Delhi despite issuing its MBA 2017-19 admission notification on September 6, 2016 vide ref. FMS/D-1077 has shied away from opening the application process which was supposed to begin in the last week of September, 2016 as per the announcement in the notification. The inordinate delay has caused a great amount of confusion among the FMS aspirants who are waiting anxiously for the FMS Delhi admission process to open.

There are thousands of MBA aspirants who despite scoring a very high percentile of 99 and above in CAT prefer FMS Delhi to number of IIMs. The highly ranked and high RoI B-school, FMS Delhi has announced that it would continue accepting CAT 2016 scores to shortlist the candidates for MBA 2017-19 batch.

Admission process: Delayed by a month
The notification had further announced “FMS advertisement for the aforesaid programmes is likely to be issued by the end of September 2016 in the newspaper and on FMS website.” In reply to MBAUniverse.com query regarding the opening of admission application process for MBA 2017-19, Dr M L Singla, Dean FMS Delhi has informed “We are in the process of finalising the details.”

High Scores in CAT 2016: Basis for shortlisting
Faculty of Management Studies(FMS), Delhi University, Delhi vide its above cited notification had informed “All those candidates who are interested in seeking admission to the MBA (two year full time) and Ph.D. (through CAT route) programmes of the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi that they are required to register for CAT 2016.”

FMS Delhi: Admission process to begin shortly
FMS Delhi has decided to continue accepting the CAT 2016 scores for admission to its flagship MBA 2017-19 programmes.

Online Admission Application process at FMS Delhi is expected to open within 2-3 days from now and would remain open continue for approximately a month.

Since FMS will use CAT 2016 scores for short listing the candidates for its MBA 2017-19 programme, no separate test will be conducted by the University of Delhi for admission to its programmes. Besides IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme at FMS Delhi.

Intake at FMS Delhi 
FMS Delhi has 216 seats for its 2 year MBA programme and 15 seats for PhD programme.  The aspirants will be allowed to apply only through online process.

Eligibility and Application fee
Only the test score of CAT 2016 will be accepted to register and apply to FMS Delhi.  The candidates applying for admission to the 2 Year Full-Time MBA must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent to CGPA, as per CAT 2016 requirement.

Candidates appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor's Degree examination may also apply. Applicants who have not registered and take CAT 2016 will not be considered for admission.

Applicants will be able to register themselves for admission to M.B.A. (Full-Time) and Ph.D. programmes through FMS website www.fms.edu by filling up online registration forms. The expected application fee for admission session 2017-19 is Rs.1000/- for each programme.
