CAT 2016 convener IIM Bangalore concluded an accelerated summer placement 2017 in 4 days for its 402 students and for 60% students of IIM Visakhapatnam with 150 recruiters at campus
It is not only IIM Bangalore but the high MBA placement trends have also been reported by IIM Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kozhikode

CAT 2016 convener, IIM Bangalore concluded an accelerated summer placement 2017 just in 4 days with more than 150 recruiters at the campus. Alongwith IIM Bangalore, the summer placement of IIM Visakhapatnam also took off and got 60% of the PGP 2016-18 batch placed.

Sharing the information IIM Bangalore clarifiedIIM Bangalore is also simultaneously hosting the summer recruitment process for IIM Vishakhapatnam PGP Class of 2016-18 with 60% of applicants already placed. Like last year, the IIM Bangalore Placement Committee was involved in the mentorship of IIM Vishakhapatnam students in the run up to the placement process.”

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) witnessed the participation of the top recruiters across all sectors with renewed vigor and was completed during November 7 to November 10.

IIM Visakhapatnam: Turning into preferred MBA destination
Now the CAT 2016 aspirants may find IIM Visakhapatnam as one of the most preferred MBA destination as it has been witnessing great placement seasons under the mentorship of IIM Bangalore since the last one year and is the first among the newest IIMs that finalized its final placement last year and the summer placement this year.

MBA Market up: IIMs report high placement trends
Providing a great reprieve to CAT 2016 aspirants as the MBA Job market is going up, the MBA summer placement reports from across the country have remained very positive reflecting rising trends. In fact it is not only IIM Bangalore but the high MBA placement trends have also been reported by IIM Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kozhikode among others.

More recruiters are making more offers in the MBA Summer Placement season this year for the PGP class of 2016-18 at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode and other B-schools.

While IIM Ahmedabad concluded its summer placement in 3 clusters on November 11, IIM Lucknow concluded it in 4 days with 151 recruiters making offers to 458 students. Major offers at IIM Lucknow came for sales & marketing, consulting, finance and business development roles. IIM Kozhikode also concluded its summer placement in 6 days witnessing 119 recruiters making offers to 364 students. There were 45% new recruiters and the stipend in summer placement also shot up to Rs. 2.5 lakhs at IIM Kozhikode.

402 students hired by 150 recruiters at IIMB
CAT 2016 aspirants who get opportunity to study at IIM Bangalore or at IIM Visakhapatnam have all the reasons to smile as IIM Bangalore witnessed the participation of 402 eligible students and more than 150 companies came to hire students for summer stint in multiple roles such as Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Markets, Corporate Banking, Sales and Marketing, Business Leadership, Product Management, Operations, Category Management, and General Management.

30 first time recruiters
There is nothing to worry for CAT 2016 test takers who score high CAT percentile and have good profile as the placement season at IIM Bangalore along with IIM Visakhapatnam is witnessing more recruiters season after after season with higher stipends and number of offers.

This year one of the other striking features in the summer placement process at IIM Bangalore was that more than 30 firms visited IIMB for hiring for the first time. Some of these included Arthur D. Little, BayCurrent Consulting, Auctus Advisors, Gates Foundation, United Breweries, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, NRI Consulting, Danaher, RPG Group, MasterCard Advisors, Visa, Mytrah Energy, Renew Power, Biocon, Next Education, Medtronics, GroupM, Wadi.com, Treebo Hotels, PharmEasy, CATKing, Rakshak Foundation and Zimmer.

Big International Banks at summer placement
IIMB played host to most big international banks such as Barclays, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Development Bank of Singapore and Standard Chartered on the first day of the Summers Placements. Private Equity/Venture Capital roles by Blackstone, Temasek Holdings, IDG Ventures and Brand Capital were offered to the students. BNY Mellon and Arpwood Capital were among the first time recruiters in this domain. A host of Indian banks and financial institutions such as Avendus Capital, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and AVIVA also made offers during the Placement process.

Accenture: Top recruiter in Consulting domain
No more slowdown exists in MBA placements, this has been proved by IIM Bangalore summer placement and now CAT 2016 aspirants should even prepare hard to get into this coveted IIM.

In the Management Consulting space, Accenture Strategy was the largest recruiter with 20 offers. The Boston Consulting Group with 15 offers, A.T. Kearney with 13 offers, McKinsey & Co. with 10 offers, Bain & Company with 8 offers and Strategy& with 7 offers were the other major recruiters this year.

More than 30% of the entire batch received offers in the Management Consulting sector, which also included reputed names like Deloitte, Roland Berger, Alvarez & Marsal, PWC Diamond Consulting, GEP, Hay Group, Synergy Consulting and Feedback Infra Consulting.

Leadership & GM roles: Top Recruiters
Conglomerates such as Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), C.K. Birla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Wipro Global, Reliance Industries Limited, General Electric recruited in significant numbers for leadership and general management roles. Aditya Birla Group with 9 offers was the highest recruiter in this space.

P&G: Top recruiter in Sales & Marketing domain
Many students who chose to go to Sales and Marketing functions were extended offers by major consumer goods and services firms. Major recruiters in this category were Procter and Gamble with 11 offers, Hindustan Unilever Limited (7), Johnson & Johnson (7), Mondelez (6), Asian Paints (5). The other recruiters in this space included Phillips, Coca Cola, ITC, Times Group and Wipro Consumer Care. Telecom majors Bharti Airtel made 11 offers and Vodafone made 3 offers. The major retail firm from Middle East - M.H. Alshaya - also recruited this year.

Microsoft: Top recruiter in Technology
Prominent recruiters in the technology space was led by Microsoft with 7 offers. The other recruiters included Microland, Sutherland Global, Infoedge, Zynga, Visa, Play Games and Directi. In the IT consulting domain, prominent recruiters like Cognizant Business Consulting, IBM and Capgemini visited the campus.

Amazon: Top Recruiter in E-commerce
The E-Commerce space also saw interest with Amazon making 20 offers. The other recruiters included Cloudtail and Shopclues making 2 and 1 offers respectively.

Commenting on the occasion, Professor Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore said, "The absence of major e-commerce recruiters did not have an impact on the Summer Placement Process due to the renewed interest from FMCG companies."

Krishna M, Placement Representative, said, “IIMB has continued to be the preferred campus for Management Consulting firms with most of them making unprecedented number of offers. Recruitment by PE/VC and Social Sector firms added to the quality and variety of offers rolled out to the students."
