Download and print CAT 2016 Admit card
Available for download from October 24 onwards till CAT 2016 test day on Dec 4. Your respective details are available on the Admit Card. You should print your Admit card on A4 size paper with laser printer. After taking print you must affix same photograph as you uploaded in CAT 2016 registration form in the given space on the Admit Card 

Admit card is available to view, download and print for all registered candidates till December 4, 2016, the exam day. Log in as Existing User on the CAT 2016 Website www.iimcat.ac.in. It is advised that you immediately view and verify the details on the Admit Card and especially note Name; Test date and session timing; Test City and centre address.

The CAT 2016 Admit Card is one of the documents required to be carried on test day. It is advised that you print the Admit card well in advance of your assigned test session. Carefully read and adhere to the instructions on the Admit Card.

Your Admit card will collected by the invigilation team at the testing room and will not be returned.

Arrive in time for Security Check
CAT 2016 test day video advises to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements. Identity checks will be carried out upon arrival at the gates of the test venue to ensure that there are no unauthorised candidates and that you are at the right test location on the right day and time. Since the process takes time you should arrive by 7.30AM for morning session and by 1.00PM for afternoon session.

Only registered CAT 2016 candidates will be allowed into the test centre. Friends or relatives who accompany you to the test centre are not allowed to wait in the test centre or be in contact with you while you take the test.

Candidates will also be subjected to frisking to ensure that you are not carrying any gadgets, notes or recording instruments strapped on your body or in your pockets. The check-in procedure inside the test hall includes your image and left thumbprint capture. This is a security feature which will allow CAT Centre 2016 to verify your identity should you be called for an interview.

This information will also be used to detect those candidates who attempt to take the test more than once. Such candidates will be disqualified from CAT 2016.

Carry following Documents on CAT 2016 Test day
CAT 2016 Test day Video instructs you to ensure that you carry the following documents on test day:
1) Admit Card    2) Photo ID Card

Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if valid photo identification and/or Admit Card is not presented. If your name has been changed due to events such as marriage, you must show the documents such as Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, Legal Name Change etc. and submit a notarized photocopy when you appear for the test, interview and at the time of joining a programme.

At the gates of the test centre, CAT 2016 volunteer will check your photo identification and Admit Card to ensure that you have arrived at the allocated test centre, on the right date and session. Beyond this point, friends and relatives who accompanied you will not be allowed inside.

On the notice board inside the test centre, you should be able to locate the lab assigned to you based on your name and registration number (referred to as Application No.) given on the Admit Card. There will be direction sign boards that will help you locate the designated test lab.

Check for your correct Test Lab
Test day Video clarifies that on the notice board inside the test centre details about your seating arrangement will be available. Once you arrive at your assigned test lab to take CAT 2016 exam, notice board outside the lab will display registration numbers of all candidates allocated for the lab. Confirm that your registration number is present on the sheet. Seating allocation will be denoted as System Number alongside your name. Except for Admit Card and Photo ID card, no other items or belongings will be allowed into the lab.

Follow the process inside the Test Lab

Inside the CAT 2016 test lab, an invigilator will check your Admit Card and Photo ID card. You will be asked to sign on the Admit Card and submit the same to the invigilator. Post which, you will be seated to give your biometric information such as left thumb print and facial photograph. Sign the attendance register and proceed to your terminal as per the system number.

At your designated terminal you will see your photograph, name and CAT 2016 registration number on the screen. Do not touch the keyboard. Stay seated for further instructions. In case, you do not see your particulars, highlight it to the invigilator.

Once you have signed in at the lab and seated at your terminal, you will not be allowed to go out. If the candidate needs to leave the lab for any reason, he/she will not be allowed to re-enter. The lab door will close 30 minutes before the start of the test. Rough sheets and pens will be distributed to each candidate.

Be seated at designated Workstation

Each workstation in the CAT 2016 test hall will be blocked on 3 sides – front, left and right. You are not supposed to look around at other candidates as there will be surveillance cameras that record video. CCTV cameras will be installed in all test centres to prevent fraudulent activities. Any suspicious or disruptive behaviour could lead to your test being invalidated by CAT Centre 2016.

Do not touch the computer key board
CAT 2016 test day video has categorically instructed not to touch the computer key board as pressing of any key may disable and lock your computer. It has been advised in the Test day video to use mouse connected to your computer to answer the questions.

Use virtual Key-Board to answer Non-MCQs
You are not supposed to answer Non-MCQs by clicking on answer options with mouse, instead a virtual key board will be displayed on the screen which has to be used to answer non-MCQs. You will have to use the mouse to enable virtual key board.

Suggesting the CAT 2016 test takers to attempt the Non-MCQs first in each of the 3 sections as they are not fraught with the risk of negative marking, Prof S K Agarwal, expert on CAT Verbal Ability preparation anticipates 28 Non-MCQ type questions out of the total 100 questions in CAT 2016 exam. So it is advisable to understand how to answer them without error.

Rough sheet & pen inside the Test lab
Rough sheet and pen will be provided to you inside the test lab. You will have to write your name and registration number on the rough sheet. The rough sheet will have to be returned when the CAT 2016 exam is over.

Know your Invigilation team
Based on the number of candidates in an examination hall, there will be one or more invigilators. CAT 2016 personnel can be identified by the badges worn by them.

Don’t wear shoes & socks
IIM  Bangalore has categorically instructed the CAT 2016 test takers “Candidates wearing shoes or any other closed footwear, will have to leave the footwear (including socks) outside the exam hall. You can wear open footwear like chappals, sandals etc.”

It is therefore advisable not to wear shoes & socks on the CAT 2016 test day to avoid any inconvenience.

Don’t arrive with dirty or coloured fingers
CAT 2016 test takers must not reach the test venue with the dirty and coloured fingers & palms as your finger prints will be captured. You should also not apply any Menhdi or Henna on your palms to avoid any problem inside the testing lab.

Making the instruction clear, IIM Bangalore has clarified “On the day of the test, your digital finger print scan will be captured. Candidates whose finger prints cannot be digitally scanned due to reasons like applying Mehndi / henna / any cosmetic colours etc., will not be permitted to take the test. It is strongly recommended that you avoid applying Mehndi on your hands (palm side) for at least 5 days prior to the test.”

Don’t carry extra items to test venue
Since CAT 2016 is a computer based test, mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets such as watches, calculators and stationary items like pen, pencil, and paper are not allowed inside the examination hall. There is no facility for safekeeping of your personal belongings outside the test hall and CAT Centre 2016 will not be responsible for its loss. Only Admit Card & Photo ID Card will be allowed inside the test hall.

No break in the 3 hours test 
Once you enter the CAT 2016 test lab, you will not be allowed to take a bio break. And thus it is advised that you locate and use the restrooms well before the start of test.

CAT 2016 is going to be held at more than 660 test venues in 138 test cities in Computer Based Format in a single day on December 4, 2016. All the eligible candidates have been issued the required admit cards for the exam with specific exam day instructions and the list of required documents to be carried on the exam day, printed on them. It is advisable to visit your test site in advance and get acquainted with the location, distance, means of transport, time taken to reach the test venue.
