MBA job market appears to be going up as the first good news of wrapping up Placement 2017 in just 3 days has come from IMI New Delhi. The placement 2017 at IMI New Delhi started on November 28 and ended on November 30.

It is also good news for CAT 2016 examinees exploring admission chances in IMI New Delhi which will be closing the PGDM 2017-19 admission process on December 12. IMI New Delhi is the first PGDM B-school which has completed its final placement 2017.

According to IMI New Delhi “More than 80 companies from various sectors showed up for placements 2017 to recruit 247 students at IMI New Delhi. The season saw a hike in the average salary to Rs.12.54 lakhs from Rs.12.40 lakhs last year. Median package shot up to around 12.1 LPA. The mix of sectors gave the students an option for a large variety of profiles and greater spread career choices. Industries ranging from Banking and Financial Services, IT, Consulting to FMCG and Automobiles gave the students the option to make the best use of the opportunity.”

The Students of PGDM 2015-17 batch at International Management Institute, New Delhi have all the reasons to celebrate as the Placement 2017 at IMI is over with higher average salary in just 3 days. The students have received recruitment offers from the top recruiters across domains months before their final year of study is over.

Key Placement trends
Placement 2017 at IMI New Delhi witnessed 81 companies making offers to 247 students across preferred domains. The average salary in Placement 2017 increased to Rs. 12.54 lakhs from Rs.12.40 lakhs last year. Interestingly only a gap of Rs.3 lakhs is there between the average and highest salary in placement 2017 at IMI New Delhi. While average salary was Rs.12.54 lakhs the highest salary stood at Rs.15.6 lakhs. This is in contrast to many other top B-schools where highest salary is very high but average salary dips very low.

Top Recruiters
Highest number of 22 offers came from ICICI Bank followed by HCL with 21 offers. McKinsey offered salary of rs. 15.01 lakhs while Fair Trade (International) offered even higher salary of Rs.15.06 lakhs.

More companies with new recruiters
Prominent feature in the placement 2017 is that along with the regular recruiters more new companies visited the campus for placement across sectors and domains. BFSI sector included the regular visitors to the campus like J. P. Morgan Chase, Citibank, HSBC, ICICI Bank and some new visitors which included Royal Bank of Scotland, and Standard Chartered.

The IT had the usual suspects in Infosys, Wipro and HCL amongst others. With a new pool of companies offering profiles of analyst and associate consultant, the college seems to be improving every year in regards to placements.

In consulting, veterans like McKinsey & Co., Deloitte, Ernst & Young India and GEP were some of the few from the sector which came in to get the pool of students.

Sector & Domain-wise Top Recruiters
The larger than last year batch size of the students at IMI New Delhi got placed faster also. The students got an opportunity to showcase their skills in various FMCG powerhouses such as Reckitt Benckiser, Asian Paints and HUL while the automobile industry was represented by Indian conglomerates such as Tata Motors and VECV which had their pick of students.

BFSI
BFSI accounted for 15% placement this year at IMI New Delhi. Top recruiters in BFSI include RBS; ICICI Bank; JPMC; Citi Bank; HSBC; Tata Capital; L&T Finance; Standard Chartered among others.

IT/ITES
Top recruiters in IT/ITES are Genpact; HCL; Infosys and Wipro. IT/ITES accounted for 25% of recruitment.

Consulting
Accounting for 20% recruitement, the Consulting domain has number of key recruiters like McKinsey & Co; Deloitte; GEP; EY; GDS; EY India among others
FMCG/FMCD
Top recruiters in this sector at IMI New Delhi include Hindustan Unilever; LAVA; Asian Paints; Reckitt Benckiser among others. This sector accounted for 8% recruitment.

Automobiles
Tata Motors; VECV; Spark Minda among others include the list of top recruiters in Automobile which accounted for 3% placement at IMI New Delhi.

Start-ups
5% batch was placed in Startups. Top recruiters in this area include Droom and Wingify.

Other areas in which good placement was offered at IMI New Delhi are business analytics with 5%; real estate with 4%; conglomerates 3%; media and communication firms 1%.
