MAT: Key topics on which questions are formed
According to Prof S K Agarwal, mentor on MAT preparation and expert on verbal ability you may find maximum questions in each section of MAT exam on the topics suggested by experts as below. http://www.mbauniverse.com/mat-mock-register.php

Mathematical Skills: Expect 50% questions on arithmetic
Out of the 40 questions in the section, around 20 questions may be based on Arithmetic like Interest, Percentages, Time and Work, Averages Percentage, Profit, Loss, Partnership. The questions are usually a little time consuming but are of moderate difficulty. Other questions may be on other topics like Venn diagrams, Equations, Ratio, Proportion & Variation, Geometry & Mensuration, Permutation and Combinations, Probability.

If you practice more, you can attempt more questions in this section in short time. Higher percentile would be waiting for those candidates who can do this section well. http://www.mbauniverse.com/mat-mock-register.php

Language comprehension: 50% MCQs on RC
There are 40 questions in the section and around 12 questions are based on jumbled words and picking odd man out of them, inserting correct words to fill in the blanks, vocabulary words to pick out correct synonyms-antonyms.

You should expect 5 short comprehension passages followed by 3-4 questions each. Other questions can be based on jumbled sentences, basic grammar corrections, main idea of paragraphs. Usually questions are of moderate difficulty level and can be answered in time.

Data analysis and Sufficiency: Most questions on DI
This section may consist of maximum questions on Data Interpretation. More prominent in this section are Pie charts, bar diagrams, charts, line graph, data comparison. Time remains the main factor to solve these questions with speed and accuracy.

Intelligence and critical reasoning: Use Logic
The section has questions on calendar, distribution, assertions reasons, blood relations, analogies, direction, series. The section is usually a little lengthy with moderate level of difficulty.

Indian and Global environment: Finish in 15 minutes
The suggested time limit to answer the 40 questions in this section is 15 minutes. You can complete it in 10 minutes since you either know the answer or do not know the answer. There is no formula based strategy to solve the GK questions.

Usually the questions are based on conventional GK, business and economics, current affairs. Although this section would not count for calculation of percentile. Candidates should answer this section well within the time limit and should not continue struggling to answer the questions, instead of moving forward without wasting the time as there is nothing to solve.

Score: You will need for a good B-school
MAT 2016 December exam would award scores keeping the Indian and Global environment section out. Hence the scaled scores and percentile scores are to be awarded out of 160 marks and accordingly the test takers will get their merit position where their scores are sent by AIMA.

If you are exploring admission to JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, BIMTECH or other top B-schools, you need to score between 90 to 100 percentile in MAT 2016 December exam. Admission to other good B schools out of the list of 400+ management institutes available at the AIMA site can only be explored with a percentile as high as 80 and above.
