IIM Indore-Mumbai campus: No CAT 2016 score relaxation in PGP 2017-19 admission; cut off not below 91 percentile

CAT 2016 aspirants will have to score as high for admission to PGP 2017-19 at Mumbai campus of IIM Indore as they need to score for the parent campus at Indore. No relaxation in qualifying scores in the admission criteria has been announced by IIM Indore for its Mumbai campus. CAT 2016 Applicants now will have to score 80 sectional and 90 overall percentile in the exam to qualify for 1st stage shortlisting at Mumbai campus of IIM Indore although actual cut offs may go much higher.

Announcing the admission criteria for the PGP Mumbai, for CAT 2016 applicants, IIM Indore has made it amply clear that it is not going to compromise on the CAT 2016 percentile score at the first stage shortlisting for its Mumbai campus and will keep it same as for IIM Indore.

IIM Indore is not in favour to award high weightage to CAT 2016 scores only for shortlisting at Mumbai campus and therefore, the admission policy for PGP 2017-19 at its Mumbai campus carries 20% weightage to CAT 2016 scores and rest to other parameters in shortlisting criteria at the very 1st stage.  

PGP Mumbai: Intake
Intake for PGP 2017-19 at IIM Indore-Mumbai campus is 75 students, although 527 candidates can be admitted at IIM Indore & Mumbai campuses taken together for PGP 2017-19 batch.

A good number of 452 candidates will be offered admission at IIM Indore at its Indore campus, 75 students will get admission opportunity at IIM Indore-Mumbai campus.

Admission chances at IIM Indore-Mumbai campus
IIM Indore & Mumbai campus had less than 91 as CAT cut off percentile on which shortlisting was done for PGP 2016-18 admission so if you are not expecting a very high percentile in CAT 2016 exam, you need not worry as you can be shortlisted for IIM Indore-Mumbai campus for PI round if you have 90+ percentile with balanced sectional percentile in CAT 2016.

Besides, you need to have a very good percentage of marks in class 10 and 12 also as IIM Indore-Mumbai will award 76% weightage to your academic profile as against only 20% weightage to CAT 2016 scores in shortlisting you for WAT & PI round.

PGP Mumbai: Qualifying CAT 2016 percentile
IIM Indore-Mumbai will shortlist the candidates for next round of admission process comprising Written Ability Test (WAT) and personal Interview (PI) on the basis of scores obtained in CAT 2016 and other parameters.

Although the minimum CAT 2016 percentile prescribed as cut off for IIM Indore-Mumbai campus is 90, the actual cut off could go beyond 93 or 94 depending upon your academic profile.

Those who have not scored a high balanced percentile in all the 3 sections in CAT 2016 may not expect to be shortlisted for PGP Mumbai. One of the major USPs of Mumbai PGP of IIM Indore is that despite having high placement trends, the admission opportunity can be explored with moderate CAT 2016 percentile score.
 
The prescribed minimum CAT 2016 cut off percentile overall as well as sectional shared below indicates only the threshold limit below which IIM Indore will not consider the candidates for admission to its flagship PGP Programme 2017-19. Apart from this the candidate with slightly low percentile but excellent academic record will be preferred to be shortlisted to the candidate with high percentile but average academic profile.

Candidates will be shortlisted for WAT & PI stage on the basis of composite scores which will be arrived at by accounting for the academic profile alsoThe Composite Score therefore is calculated on the basis of CAT 2016 score, academic scores, and gender diversity.

There will not be any weightage to the academic scores beyond class 12. In fact candidates scoring percentage of marks above 85 can get a good weightage in the computation of composite scores.

20% Weight to CAT 2016 score
Weightage to your CAT 2016 scores will be computed as follows-
20* [candidate’s CAT overall score / highest CAT overall score]   

4% Weight to Female candidates 
IIM Indore-Mumbai campus will award a weightage of 4% to female candidates only to ensure gender diversity while shortlisting the candidates for PI stage. No weightage to male or transgender candidates will be awarded.
 The computation is as follows: Gender Diversity Factor (GDF)
= 4 for Female Applicants
= 0 for Other Applicants

How to calculate your composite score
Composite Score = Sum of the above scores (Max 100) is the formula to arrive at the maximum score.  Please note that  Zcandidate, Zmin, Zmax for 10th and 12th Standard are computed using the normalisation process.

Shortlisting the candidates is not based only on CAT 2016 scores.  Apart from CAT 2016 scores a candidate is required have excellent academic profile to get shortlisted for final admission round at IIM Indore-Mumbai campus. 

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGP) a flagship programme of IIM Indore-Mumbai campus, is a  2 year full-time residential programme. The PGP issued by the Indian Institute of Management Indore is recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to M.B.A. Degree of an Indian University.

IIM Indore is the 6th IIM in the family of IIMs. Usually it declares the shortlist of candidates for next phase of admission round immediately after declaration of CAT result. It is expected that the 1st stage shortlist of candidates for PI round 2017 will be declared for IIM Indore & Mumbai campus in the 3rd week of January 2017.

IIM Indore Mumbai Campus is located at Mahaavir Icon Building, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The campus has well-furnished seven classrooms, two MDP classrooms, a library, a computer centre, 9 faculty cabins, 2 discussion rooms and a cafeteria.
