JBIMS Admission 2017: Major changes announced; only CAT 2016 & MAH CET 2017 accepted; no DTE - CAP participation

JBIMS Mumbai has announced its revised admission process for MMS 2017-19 batch and instead of participating in DTE-CAP will follow its own admission criteria

Revising its admission policy for 2017, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai has announced that it will accept only CAT 2016, MAH-CET 2017 scores for admission to its flagship MMS 2017-19 batch. Besides, JBIMS will not participate in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017 conducted by DTE Maharashtra and will conduct its own GD-PI-WAT to select the candidates for admission. The application process is to be opened by JBIMS shortly and will be available on its website.

Admission process goes back to 2015
JBIMS enjoys the status of autonomous B school since 2014. Accordingly for admission 2015, it did not participate in DTE-CAP round and conducted its own admission process. However, in 2016 admission to JBIMS was again through DTE-CAP and the candidates who appeared in XAT 2016, CMAT, MAT, ATMA apart from CAT 2015 and MAH-CET 2016 became eligible for admission to JBIMS, Mumbai. This facility is now withdrawn and now if you have not appeared in CAT 2016 or do not appear in MAH-CET 2017 on March 4 & 5, 2017, you are not eligible for admission to MMS 2017-19 at JBIMS Mumbai.

Changing its admission process again after a gap of one year for MMS 2017-19, JBIMS has clarified that qualifying exams for admission to MMS 2017-19 are CAT 2016 / MH-CET 2017 for domestic candidates and for foreign nationals and NRIs the qualifying exam is GMAT taken on or after Jan 2013.

The institute has also announced that it will conduct its own final selection round “For the year 2017-19, JBIMS will admit students based on the process conducted by the institute and not through the Common Admissions Process carried out by DTE.”

To ensure an enriching academic experience for both the faculty and the students, the institute has established a selective admissions process for MMS 2017-19 programme which is equal to MBA programme.

Eligibility to apply
A candidate seeking admission in JBIMS 2 years MMS 2017-19 programme must have passed with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor’s degree awarded by any of the UGC recognized universities.

Although there is no age bar the graduation should be of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline. Those appearing in their final year of graduation can also apply. Candidates should have appeared in CAT 2016 and/or MAH-CET 2017 exam.

How to apply
All the applications for MMS 2017­19 course have to be submitted online only through the official application portal. No printed copies of application will be accepted by JBIMS.

Admission Application fee
For general category candidates (Outside Maharashtra candidates as well candidates from Maharashtra State), J&K migrant candidates, Foreign nationals and NRI/PIO/ Children of Indian Workers in gulf countries candidates the application fee is Rs. 1500/-

For candidates of backward class categories [SC, ST, VJ/DT-NT(A), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC, SBC] and persons with disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only the application fee is Rs 1000/-

How to pay the application fee
The application-processing fee needs to be paid at the time of submitting the online application. The candidate can pay through DD/Wire transfer, Debit card/Credit card payment gateway, for which the service charges, as per rules, shall be applicable in addition to the application form processing fees. No other mode of payment shall be permitted.

JBIMS has a track record of 100% placement with high salary packages. Average salary offered was Rs.18.13 lakhs and the highest salary was Rs.26 lakhs in placement 2016. Education at JBIMS is not limited to conventional class room experience. It is coordinated with vast industrial exposure also. Students at JBIMS find great merit while studying at the B school and share that studying at JBIMS is an altogether different experience.
