IIFT 2019: Notification in July Last or August first Week- confirms IIFT Director; Exam on December 2, 2018

Director's office of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has confirmed that IIFT 2018 written entrance exam Notification for IIFT 2019 admission to MBA (IB) 2019-21 will be released in the last week of July or first week of August, 2018. The Registration and application form for IIFT 2019 MBA admission will be enabled along with the release of IIFT Notification. Accordingly it is expected that IIFT 2018 entrance exam application process would begin around July 29 or August 3, 2018.

IIFT 2018 exam registration process will be only Online this year. The offline application form availability for IIFT exam has been discontinued by the exam conducting authority. The fact has also been confirmed by IIFT Director's office. Although the last date to apply for IIFT exam is not yet decided, however, going by the last year trend you would be able to register and apply for IIFT 2018 exam till September 15, 2018. 

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) will conduct its entrance exam on December 2, 2018 for admission to IIFT 2019 MBA programme. Releasing the Exam date on its website for admission to IIFT 2019-21 MBA (IB) batch at all the three campuses, IIFT has announced, “This year entrance Exam of MBA(IB) 2019-21 program is scheduled on 02nd December 2018.”

Detailed Notification this Week
IIFT exam detailed notification is expected by July 20, 2018. Along with the release of IIFT 2018 notification, the IIFT exam registration will also begin. The IIFT 2018 entrance test registration is expected to remain open till September 15, 2018.

Except for the last year, IIFT exam Notification used to be released on July 15, and the exam date was also fixed for the 4^th Sunday of November. However, since last year IIFT entrance exam has been shifted to the first Sunday in December due to the early conduct of CAT exam by IIMs.

IIFT Registration Dates & Process
With the release of IIFT exam notification, IIFT will also open the registration and application process for the IIFT MBA 2019 entrance exam to be held on December 2, 2018 at 20 test cities  across the country in conventional paper-pencil mode. The registration and application process to appear in IIFT 2018 exam is available online only and the off-line registration process has been discontinued.

The registration window for IIFT 2018 exam that opens this week will remain open for about 50 days as the last date to submit the completed application form is expected to be September 15, 2018. IIFT Exam Fee: Rs.1550/- (Under Revision)
IIFT 2018 Exam fee is Rs.1550/- as was last year. However, since all the MBA entrance exam fees are under revision due to rise in cost and implementation of GST, it is possible that IIFT Exam Fee may go up slightly this year. The IIFT exam fee includes the IIFT 2018 Registration and Application fee, IIFT 2018 Entrance exam fee, IIFT Counselling, GD-PI-WAT fee.

IIFT 2019 Intake: 420 Seats
IIFT does not propose to increase the intake for its MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch. Present intake at all the three campuses of IIFT is 420 seats. With the launch of Kakinada campus, the IIFT intake of students campus wise stands as under:

The IIFT 2019 MBA (IB) admission test score will be accepted only by IIFT for admission to its campuses and no other MBA college accepts IIFT exam score.

IIFT Changes Eligibility Criteria
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has changed its eligibility criteria since last year to apply for IIFT entrance exam. Now IIFT has prescribed minimum 50% marks in graduation to register and apply for IIFT 2019 admission to MBA (IB) as against the admission criteria announced earlier when no such percentage of marks to register and apply for the IIFT entrance exam till 2016 was prescribed.

The IIFT 2018 revised eligibility criteria as per the IIFT Notification are detailed below:

• Recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with 50% marks in Graduation (45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates)
• Candidate appearing in the final year examination of Graduation can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by October 2019

Hidden Age Bar in IIFT 2018 Exam
IIFT 2018 exam leading to IIFT 2019 admission, according to the notification, can be attempted by the candidates in any age group provided only that they are graduates with 50% marks. A candidate at the age of 60 years and above can also appear in IIFT 2018 entrance exam.

But there is hidden age limit as most of the Universities till their early 80’s awarded bachelor’s degree of 2 years duration. Since IIFT requires minimum 3 years of bachelor’s degree, and those who did their graduation before late 80’s with 2 years duration can not apply for the IIFT 2018 entrance exam. Accordingly most of the candidates above 52-54 years of age may not be able to compete for IIFT admission.

IIFT 2018 Exam Pattern: 6 Sections Now
According to Prof Manoj Pant, Director Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, the IIFT 2018 exam will be a paper based test. Sharing about the details that IIFT 2018 exam may not switch to computer based test, Prof Pant said, “The logistics of a paper based test and an online computer based test are completely different. As the number of applicants has increased over the years from around 40,000 to now over 60,000, we are contemplating to switch to an online test.  However, we are still investigating the logistical issues and the switch may be possible in 2019.”

IIFT entrance exam will be held in a single session in two hours testing duration in paper pen mode from 10AM to 12Noon on Sunday December 2, 2018. IIFT 2018 exam is divided in 6 sections instead of earlier 4 sections. These 6 sections are the result of split of the parts earlier included in the 4 sections of IIFT entrance exam consisting of questions covering English Comprehension, General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis. IIFT Exam Cities
IIFT 2018 entrance exam for IIFT 2019 admission to MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch will be held at following 20 test centres:

IIFT entrance test is one of the most preferred MBA entrance exams. Around 60 thousand candidates are expected to go for IIFT 2018 registration and apply for admission to 420 seats of MBA (International Business) programme for the three campuses of IIFT at Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada. The ratio per candidate is higher than any other MBA entrance test. IIFT doesn’t accept any other score than the score of its own entrance test for domestic candidates. For NRIs and foreign nationals GMAT scores are accepted.
