Stage-I: Submission of CAT application, appearing in CAT and opting for IIM Vizag admission in CAT application form

Stage-2: All candidates who opted for IIM Vizag admission 2024 while applying for CAT 2024 and have scored required percentile as prescribed by IIMV, need to submit the detailed application online as available at the link https://pgpadmissions.iimv.ac.in/ on IIM Vizag official website. IIM Vishakhapatnam has clarified, “In the first phase process, all eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT 2023 and have selected IIM Visakhapatnam as one of their preferences in the CAT form will be considered. Candidates who qualify at this stage will be asked to apply for admission to PGP 2024-26 of IIMV through the IIMV website.”

Stage-3: IIM Visakhapatnam Shortlist 2024
IIM Visakhapatnam Shortlisting Criteria 2024 is a two step process – Pre shortlist followed by Shortlist for PI Round. While the pre-shortlisting is done based on IIM Vizag cut offs as announced in its admission policy, the shortlist for PI round at IIM Visakhapatnam is arrived by using multiple parameters and awarding high weightage to academic performance as well as to the section wise scores in CAT exam in shortlisting to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP programme. After submitting the application for admission on IIM-V website, the candidates will need to wait for PI Call from IIM Visakhapatnam 

Stage 3.1 IIMV Pre-Shortlisting Criteria

• In the first phase, all eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT 2023 and have applied for IIM Visakhapatnam admission are considered for shortlisting
• The shortlist of candidates is based on securing minimum section-wise and aggregate percentile scores in CAT 2023 exam
• All the subsequent processing, standardization and selection is limited to candidates belonging to this first shortlist alone. Accordingly, only CAT 2023 score is used as the basis for arriving at the shortlist for PI round
• IIM Visakhapatnam will send e-mail to all candidates who have applied to IIM Visakhapatnam and also meet the minimum CAT 2023 percentile requirements in January 2024.
• The E-mail, sent by IIMV, has a link to a web page where the candidates must reconfirm their interest to pursue their candidature further, for admission to PGP 2024 at IIM Visakhapatnam. 
• All Shortlisted Candidates will be invited to submit a detailed online application, including a Statement of Purpose, details of semester wise / year wise marks in bachelor’s degree, copies of all academic transcripts and certificates, copies of work experience certificates (if applicable), certificate of disability (if applicable), scheduled caste / scheduled tribe / other backward class – non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable), EWS certificate (if applicable).

Stage 3.1.1. IIM Visakhapatnam Cut Off in first Stage Shortlisting 
Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2023 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2023 will be considered for all the subsequent stages. These are cut-offs used for preparing the first short-list. The actual CAT 2023 cut-offs for those who are called for interview could be much higher. Stage 3.2: IIMV Shortlisting Criteria for PI Round
Only those candidates who have met the minimum CAT 2023 percentiles requirements are considered in Phase 2 of Shortlisting for PI round. The candidates' percentage scores in the academics are considered for shortlisting alongwith CAT exam scores. Candidates with Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting, and Company Secretary certifications are awarded weight under professional course. No other professional course is eligible for weight under professional course. Work Experience is also given weightage in shortlisting for PI Round

The Weightage of 50 points for CAT 2023 percentile score is divided further into the performance in each of the three sections to shortlist candidates for PI round as under:

• All the shortlisted candidates need to participate in Final selection round for admission to IIM Visakhapatnam
• The maximum weightage of 10 points for work experience will be awarded by IIM Visakhapatnam in final selection round on the basis of length of work experience and quality of work experience as on December 31, 2023. No weightage will be awarded for the work experience below 6 months. Besides, Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of curricular requirement will not be considered.
• All candidates will be required to provide two confidential reference letters from their employers or from teachers in the academic institutions where they had been students previously before the PI round at IIM Visakhapatnam
• The candidates who are shortlisted and interviewed by any one or more of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow (only for their PGP/PGPM programs), will not be required to appear for the personal interview of IIM Visakhapatnam. For these candidates, their Personal Interview (PI) scores from the above IIMs will be used to derive their PI scores for IIMV
•  Candidates who are not shortlisted and interviewed by any of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow (only for their PGP/PGPM programs) will be required to appear for a Personal Interview (PI) conducted by IIM Visakhapatnam.

10. IIM Visakhapatnam Awards MBA Degree instead of PGDM Diploma
With the passing of IIM Act 2017, IIM Visakhapatnam is awarding MBA degree from its 2016-18 batch, instead of Diploma. The Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017 declares IIMs as Institutions of National Importance, empowered to attain standards of global excellence in management, management research and allied areas of knowledge.

The team of faculty at IIM Visakhapatnam is recruited through a rigorous process of screening and assessment under the aegis of the Mentor Institute. IIM Visakhapatnam Admission process is based on the relationship between academic performance of students of the PGP in IIM Visakhapatnam and their past academic performance, their CAT score, performance in the admission interview and prior work experience.

Following steps are included in the IIM Visakhapatnam Admission process:

• Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2023 to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at IIM Visakhapatnam
• Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2023 score, who have excellent academics, who have applied to the programme, who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the PGP programme and have reconfirmed their interest to pursue PGP at IIM Visakhapatnam in response to their e-mail.
• Step 3: IIM Visakhapatnam will identify many candidates for shortlisting for the PI round with an excellent academic record and work experience but who may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist. Such candidates will be preferred in the shortlisting process as against those who have only a high CAT score but have poor academic profile and poor quality of work experience.  The emphasis in shortlisting process at IIM Visakhapatnam is on consistent and high performance in academics and other parameters.
• Step 4: After the PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Visakhapatnam to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT 2023, Quality of Work Experience among others
• Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made by IIM Visakhapatnam to the candidates in the third week last week of  May 2024 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.

14. IIM Visakhapatnam: Hostel facility
The temporary campus at IIM Visakhapatnam is not equipped with on campus hostel accommodation and candidates shall have to move to off campus hostel accommodation. While IIM Visakhapatnam operates from Andhra University campus, it has arranged two separate 5-storey buildings which are 3 KM away from campus with a capacity of 60 students each on a double occupancy basis. Institute provides transportation to students for commuting between the Institute and hostels. All the rooms are air conditioned and furnished.

15. IIM Visakhapatnam identifies Most Promising Candidates
The two-year, full-time, residential programme PGP 2024-26 at Indian Institute of management (IIM) Visakhapatnam is designed to equip students to take on leadership roles in an increasingly complex and dynamic global scenario. The programme lasts six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer project intermediary. 

Classes at IIM Visakhapatnam are held at the temporary premises allotted to it at Andhra University campus and will continue at the temporary campus till the 230 acre campus of IIM Visakhapatnam gets ready. Necessary renovation was done to provide state-of-the-art facilities such as Seminar Room with Video Conferencing, Class rooms, discussion rooms, library, student lounge and cafeteria

Located in its temporary, but state-of-the-art facility in the salubrious Andhra University campus in the ‘City of Destiny’, Visakhapatnam, IIMV has begun the process for building a permanent, full-fledged, word-class campus on approx. 230 acres of land in the vicinity of the upcoming green-field international airport, about 25 kilometres from the present campus.
