15,000 candidates take NMAT 2010 computer-based test in the first half of 10-day window

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has reported that by February 3 over 15,000 candidates have successfully tested for the computer-based NMAT 2010. This is the first time that the MBA entrance exam has gone completely electronic.

With its policy of adopting proactive approach instead of reactive approach, Pearson Vue, the test executing agency for NMAT 2010, is taking all steps to ensure a smooth exam experience for test takers. Pearson Vue has reported that a candidate in Raipur who needed urgent medical attention, in the middle of his test, was attended to by a doctor promptly and advised medical care. On his recovery, the candidate’s test will be re-scheduled within the test window. Another candidate who was hurt on his way to the test center in Chennai reported for the test despite injuries. The candidate was rescheduled to another slot.

The test executing agency has further reported that at a test center in NOIDA a network card developed a fault between the signing of the NDA and the start of the test. The fault was identified and rectified within minutes to begin the test for the batch. The batch was administered the test smoothly as per schedule.

“We are satisfied with the feedback being received from the candidates who have already taken their NMAT. We would like to assure all remaining candidates that the Pearson VUE project team will continue to work on a smooth implementation of computer based testing over the next 5 days to provide a high quality testing experience,” according to a statement from the Chairman of the NMAT Admissions Committee.

The NMAT 2010 exam will end on 8 February 2010. Nearly 40,000 test takers are taking the test in India, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore and Sri Lanka. The two hour test is designed on a multiple-choice question format that includes a set of questions in Language Skills; Quantitative Skills, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency; and Logical Reasoning.
