The paper pencil exam of AIMA’s Management Aptitude Test (MAT) 2010 was held on Sunday, February 7, 2010. The computer based test will be held from Saturday, February 13, 2010 onwards. MBAUniverse.com presents to you the post-exam analysis of the paper pencil exam.
The number of questions were 200. The questions had four options. Each correct answer consisted of 1 mark whereas there was negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The duration of the paper was 150 minutes.
The sections were Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Language Comprehension, Indian and Global Environment and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. According to test prep institute T.I.M.E., the difficulty level of the paper was Moderate.

Language Comprehension
The section was divided among questions on Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension (RC). The section contained usual questions with a couple of surprises. According to T.I.M.E. the RC section was tough whereas the verbal part was attainable. Overall, the section can be classified as Moderate.
Mathematical Skills
This section mostly consisted of Arithmetic questions on the areas of Percentages, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Geometry, Time and Distance, Compound Interest etc. This section can be classified as Moderate to Difficult.
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
This section had 31 questions on Analytical Reasoning and 9 questions on Critical Reasoning. T.I.M.E. mentions that Analytical Reasoning questions were easy but the questions on Critical Reasoning were vague and ambiguous. The difficulty level of this section was Easy to Moderate.
Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency
The questions based on Data Comparison were much easier compared to the questions in other sections. This section can be classified as Moderate difficulty level.
Indian and Global Environment
This area consisted of questions on current affairs, business, personalities and their associated fields etc. This section can be classified as Moderate to Difficult.
