MBAUniverse.com brings to you exclusive interview with Dr. Anupam Rastogi, Chairman, NMAT Admissions Committee (NAC), Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). Dr. Rastogi talks about the post-exam admission procedure and the criteria for selecting the students for the 2010-12 batch of its MBA programmes. The NMAT 2010 exam was held from 30 January to 8 February 2010 across several centers in India and overseas. The result was declared on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.

Excerpts from the exclusive interview:

Q: What are the procedures that you are following post the computer-based entrance exam to select the candidates?

Dr. Rastogi: Post the entrance exam we will be holding a short Psychometric Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.  All the three components will be done on the same day. Psychometric test is a computer-based test which will test the candidates’ personality.

Q: What are the tentative dates for the conduct of GD & PI in NMIMS?

Dr. Rastogi: The dates for GD & PIs are from Monday, March 29 to Thursday, April 8, 2010.

Q: How much weightage is given to the NMAT 2010 scores, GD & PI, past academic records and work experience?

Dr. Rastogi: The total Weightage for NMAT 2010 test and psychometric test will be 70 per cent and the rest 30% will be divided equally in other four components (GD, PI, Work Experience, Past Academic Performance).

Q: Has there been any change in this procedure since last year?

Dr. Rastogi: Yes.  Psychometric test and past academic record have been added this year apart from the fact that this year for the first time we had online test for NMAT.

Q: What is the number of seats in the MBA programs offered by NMIMS?

Dr. Rastogi: The management programs by NMIMS include MBA Core (300 seats); MBA Actuarial Sciences (30 seats); Capital markets (30 seats); Banking (30 seats); Pharma Management (60 seats) and MBA Part Time (240 seats).

Q: What are the fees for the MBA programs offered by NMIMS in the academic year of 2010-12?

Dr. Rastogi: Last year the tuition fee for MBA core was Rs. 3.75 lakh per year and for the focused MBA programs, which include Actuarial Science, Banking, Capital Markets and Pharma Management, it was Rs. 3 lakh per year.  For MBA part time, fees was Rs. 1.23 lakh per year. 

The fee structure for the batch of 2010-12 is presently under review.
