According to XLRI, XAT 2010 entrance exam will maintain its traditional paper-pencil format

XAT, the MBA entrance exam held for the admission in MBA institutes like XLRI Jamshedpur and XIM Bhubaneshwar, will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2010, for the academic year of 2010-12. XLRI, the MBA institute that organizes XAT entrance exam, has confirmed the date and other details with MBAUniverse.com. "XAT will be held on January 3, 2010," said XLRI, in an official communication to MBAUniverse.com.

Unlike CAT 2009, XAT entrance exam will maintain its traditional paper-pencil test format, according to XLRI. “The candidate application fee will be Rs. 800, the same as last year,” the admissions department of XLRI mentioned. Last year, XAT entrance exam was held in 100 centres, but this year, the authorities are anticipating some changes. More information on the same will be provided from September 1, they said.

XAT 2009 was held on January 4, 2009, and was a two-and-a-half hours test consisting three sections. Like CAT, XAT entrance exam is also based on the areas which includes verbal ability and reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative skills, data interpretation, analytical and logical reasoning.  In XAT entrance exam, the additional areas in comparison to CAT entrance exam are the general awareness section and the 20-minute essay writing section.

XAT entrance exam has been conducted by XLRI for more than 50 years. There are 60 other MBA institutes which accept the XAT entrance exam scores to select their candidates.
