The Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur, is hosting a four-day conference APORS 2009 (Association of Asian Pacific Operational Research Societies) under the theme of ‘Operations Research for Emerging Economies’ at its campus. The conference kicked off on December 6, 2009.
Internationally renowned Operations Research practitioners from UK, USA, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Australia and Iran are participating in the conference. The purpose of this conference is to explore contemporary issues and business factors influencing the present state of Operational Research across the globe.
Some of the distinguished speakers are Prof. Jonathan P. Caulkins- Professor of Operations Research and Public Policy, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh; Dr. Elise del Rosario from Philippines; Dr. Tatsuo Oyama, President, APORS; Dr. Subir Chowdhury, Past President, ORSI; Dr. M. R. Rao, ISB Hyderabad; Dr. Subhash Datta- Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur.

APORS (Association of Asian Pacific Operational Research Societies) is the Asia Pacific branch of IFORS (The International Federation of Operational Research Societies). IFORS is an umbrella organization comprising of the national Operations Research societies of over 45 countries from four geographical regions of the world- Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and South America.
APORS Conference is held every three years to promote Operations Research as an academic discipline and a profession. The APORS 2009 conference is being held in India only for the third time.
