The Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata is the most admired and most respected business leader of the MBAs studying at India’s leading MBA schools. This finding has emerged from the ‘MBAUniverse.com Career Aspirations of MBAs Survey – 2010’. The survey captures the sentiments in India’s top rung MBA schools vis-à-vis placements for 2010.The survey was conducted in partnership with Synovate, a global market research company.
Last year too Ratan Tata was at the No. 1 position in the most admired business leader list. Mr. Tata is the choice of 34% of the MBA students. Very close to Mr. Tata is Infosys Technologies founder Narayana Murthy at No. 2. Mr. Murthy is the choice of 32% of the MBA students. The next three business icons in order of merit are, Vijay Mallya, Chairman of UB Group and Kingfisher Airlines; Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Group and Laxmi N. Mittal, Chairman of Arcelor Mittal. The flamboyant business icon Vijay Mallya has entered the Hall of Fame for the first time.
The other business icons that are in the favourites list of the MBA students are Indra Nooyi, Chairman of PepsiCo; Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group; Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries; Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro; Anil Ambani, Chairman of Reliance ADAG.
The MBAUniverse.com Career Aspirations of MBAs Survey – 2010 was conducted across top 25 leading MBA schools of India, which include IIM Calcutta; IIM Lucknow; IIM Indore; IIM Kozhikode; Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi; SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai; IIFT New Delhi; Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar; Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai; MDI Gurgaon; Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi; Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay and many others. 500 second year students from these schools participated in the survey.
