Uddyam 2010, the annual innovation and entrepreneurship event of S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, is all set to be held on Sunday, February 7 in the campus grounds. The event aims to be an enterprise building exercise and provide the right platform for commercialization of innovations. It also aims to bridge the gap between the innovators, entrepreneurs and investors.
Uddyam 2010 will kick-start with the keynote address by Dr. Y.S. Rajan, Principal Adviser to Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Dr. Rajan has a proven track record of excellence as a Scientist, Technologist, Administrator, Organisation Builder and Leader, Diplomat, Writer and Poet. He is also a prolific writer and has co-authored the book “India 2020- A Vision for the New Millennium” along with former President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
Uddyam 2010 is being conducted in association with Technopreneur Promotion Program (TePP) of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. A pioneer in promoting technology based innovations, TePP has helped many innovators patent their prototypes over the past few years. Though many of them have the potential to become successful ventures, there is a huge divide between the innovators who make these products, the entrepreneurs who can take them to the markets and investors who can provide the funding.
In the preliminary round of the event Validated TePP innovations were presented to the MBA school students and the students were invited to prepare 'Innovation-plans' to commercialize the innovations. Over 50 teams from various MBA schools participated in the preliminary round.
On February 7 the final teams would present their innovation plans to an esteemed panel of judges, to interested entrepreneurs and to investors.
