Maruti chairman to nurture IIM Ranchi; First academic session to start by June this year

The Chairman of Maruti Udyog Mr. R.C. Bhargava has been appointed the Chairman of the Board of Governors that has been constituted for IIM Ranchi.

PTI has reported, quoting Mr. Bhargava, that the first academic session at IIM Ranchi will start this year by June- July. The news agency has reported that “between 60 and 80 students will be taken for the first academic year. The advertisement for admission would be given by the month end and those who score 95 per cent or above in the 2009 CAT would be eligible”.

The MBA school has already been allotted 200-acre plot in Nagari last year. IIM Calcutta would be the mentor institute in the starting years.

Apart from Ranchi the government is setting up IIMs in: Trichurapally in Tamil Nadu; Raipur in Chhattisgarh; Rohtak in Haryana. Initially, the new IIMs would all operate from temporary premises. IIMs are also approved for the states of Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.
