The AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) 2010 was held on Sunday, February 14, 2010. The test was held across 32 test centers across the country. About 133 prominent MBA institutes will be accepting the ATMA scores. The results are to be declared on March 8.

ATMA 2010 followed the similar pattern as the ATMA 2009. There were 170 questions to be attempted within 180 minutes. There were three areas, Quantitative skills, Verbal skills and Analytical Reasoning skills. There were two sections in each area. The difficulty level of the paper was Moderate.

Let us focus on the section wise analysis of ATMA 2010:

Verbal skills
The number of questions in this area, including Reading Comprehension and Verbal skills was 50. The test prep institute T.I.M.E. mentions that the passages were slightly longer but not that difficult. The difficulty level of the Reading Comprehension section was Easy to Moderate. The Verbal skills area was of Moderate difficulty level. The questions were mainly on Synonyms/Antonyms, Fill in the blanks and other grammatical questions.

Quantitative skills
The Quantitative skills section had 60 questions divided equally within both the sections. The Arithmetic section consisted of questions on Time & Work, Time & Distance, Numbers, Progressions, Geometry, Mensuration, Average, Percentage etc.  The Higher Math area consisted of questions on P & C and Probability.

“The questions on higher math required knowledge of the concepts but did not involve much calculation. There were some questions in Arithmetic that were simple in nature but required lengthy calculations,” T.I.M.E. mentions. The difficulty level of the Arithmetic area was Easy to Moderate and the Higher Math area is Moderate. Overall, the difficulty level of the Quantitative skills section can be rated as Moderate.

Analytical Reasoning Skills
This area consisted of Analytical Reasoning and Critical Reasoning questions. The total number of questions was 60 including both the areas. The Analytical Reasoning questions were on Deductions, Linear and Circular Arrangements, Data Sufficiency, Input Output, Distribution, Inferences, Cause Effect, Decision Making, etc. The Critical Reasoning area included questions on Strong and Weak Arguments, Assumptions, Conclusions etc.

According to T.I.M.E., the Data Sufficiency and Arrangement questions were simple and straight forward. But the questions on Input-Output were moderately difficult. Overall, this section can be described as moderately difficult,” says T.I.M.E.
