The All India Management Association (AIMA) is organizing the “Global Convention on MSMEs” under the theme of “Towards Excellence in MSMEs: Innovative Practices
for Global Competitiveness” on 10-11 March 2010 at New Delhi.

Speakers from the government as well as private sector will be addressing the participants. The speakers include Mr Ashok Chawla, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and Dr R. A. Mashelkar, Chairperson, National Innovation Foundation, India.

The convention will focus on the Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which are spread all over the country, contributing significantly to India's Economic Development. They are playing an important role in sustaining economic growth, increasing trade, generating employment and creating seedbed for enterprise development.

However, MSMEs have been facing serious constraints and problems for their growth and development, more so in the context of globalization of the Indian economy. The Government of India has come out with the legislation to intensify its support to small enterprises and broad base their spread to include the medium enterprises and services sector apart from the micro enterprises.

Discussions with MSMEs, bankers, credit rating agencies and other stakeholders have indicated that MSMEs need skills not only to procure and manage their funds but also to effectively leverage latest technologies and reach out to relevant markets both domestic and international.

Keeping these imperatives in mind, AIMA is organizing this Convention.
