Davos Debates in India: Unique opportunity for you to join discussions at India Economic Summit
The World Economic Forum recently launched the Davos Debates in India to coincide with its India Economic Summit. WEF has invited the global community to share its thoughts on whether India can harness its huge potential effectively at http://youtube.com/davos.
Internet users should answer the following question: Can India become a superpower?
During the Summit, a dedicated video corner will allow more than 700 industry, government and thought leaders to reply to the videos submitted by the YouTube community. The best videos will become part of the discussions at the 2009 India Economic Summit. To gather different perspectives, a street survey in collaboration with one of India's leading broadcasters will capture viewpoints from the general public in the coming weeks.
Launched at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2008 in Davos, Switzerland, the Davos Debates on YouTube have engaged world leaders such as Kofi Annan, Secretary-General, United Nations (1997-2006); Shimon Peres, President of Israel; Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey; Henry Kissinger and Mohammad Yunus, among many others, to reply directly to the YouTube community. In January 2009, 24-year old Colombian student Pablo Camacho was chosen for the best video entry and was invited, all expenses paid, to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, as a citizen reporter.
WEF has hosted similar Davos Debates at its regional meetings in South Africa, Jordan and South Korea, with the notable participation of South African President Jacob Zuma and H.M. Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
