IISWBM Kolkata: Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management

IISWBM was constituted on 25th April, 1953 by a resolution passed by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. This was the culmination of the joint initiative taken by the University of Calcutta, the Government of West Bengal, the Government of India and the captains of industry in India to set up for the first time a management education institute in India, a concept alien to many in the educational fraternity at that time.

MBA is important because today's dynamic business environment requires graduates who can effectively handle decisions. Including working with and leading people.

IISWBM faculty is at the center of our efforts to provide a high quality and challenging educational experience. They are academically prepared in their special field of management and have professional experience in a variety of work settings. One of their many strengths is to integrate their professional experience into classroom learning and include the application of 'theory' to real world situations

The growing complexity of business and the workplace has also led to the creation of niches within management where special tiers of skills and training are required. Through teaching we develop responsible, thoughtful leaders and entrepreneurs who create value for their organizations and their communities.
