IIM Calcutta has announced the admissions to the fourth batch of the Post Graduate Programme for Executives. This one year full time residential program is meant for Executives, and is positioned to “sharpen candidate’s leadership skills”. The selection process takes place through the multi layered criteria like GMAT score, personal interview, recommendation letters along with academic qualification and professional experience. IIM C will be holding PGPEX road-shows across the country, including cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai in June. The application process for programme will end by July 11, 2009.
In this course, focus is provided on analytical and problem solving methodology. The emphasis is given on developing communication, leadership and team building skills in a cross cultural environment. Learning takes place in a cross cultural environment. International projects and study tours are a part of this course.
This course was launched by IIM C in 2006 in order to cater to the current global economic needs. According to Professor Biju Paul Abraham, Chairman PGPEX IIM C, “The PGPEX programme was created in response to these needs. It aims to develop executives who can meet the emerging and, in some cases, unforeseen challenges of global business.”
The programme is delivered in seven modules. The first three modules are devoted to the compulsory courses while the last three models teach both the compulsory and elective courses. Participants have to undertake an international project and study tour in order to know other economies in the fifth module of the program. The delivery will be a mix of class lectures, case studies along with individual and team assignments. The faculty will be both from IIM C and international faculty of repute.
The eligibility criteria of the programme is Executives with a graduate degree in any discipline or equivalent qualification, at least five years of full time post qualification professional experience, a valid GMAT score which is taken within the last three years at the time of application and proficiency in English.
Prof Biju Abraham says that the selection takes place through a rigorous selection process from candidates throughout the world. It is based on the criteria like academic background, professional experience, GMAT score, personal interview, statement of purpose and recommendation letters from two referees holding senior academic or managerial positions. The preliminary selection is based on the GMAT score and a review of the application. The final selection is dependent on a personal or telephonic interview for applicants residing abroad.
The last date for submitting applications is July 11, 2009. The announcement of the selected candidates will be on first half of November, 2009. The commencement of the session will take place on April 19, 2010.
