EMBA:
Before we review the FT’s list, let us understand what EMBA or Executive MBA is. Wikipedia defines EMBA as “Executive MBA (EMBA) programs developed to meet the educational needs of managers and executives, allowing students to earn an MBA or another business-related graduate degree in two years or less while working full time. Participants come from every type and size of organization – profit, nonprofit, government — representing a variety of industries. EMBA students typically have a higher level of work experience, often 10 years or more, compared to other MBA students.”
FT ranks Kellogg/ Hong Kong UST Business School’s EMBA programme as the No 1 programme in the world in 2007.

‘Executive Education’
In US and European countries, Executive Education is generally associated with short term programmes like Advance Management Programme (AMP) that are aimed at senior managers. According to Wikipedia, “Executive Education is the term used for programs at graduate-level business schools that aim to give classes for Chief Executives and other top managers or entrepreneurs. These programs do not usually end in a degree, although there is an ever-growing number of Executive MBA programs that are very similar and offer a Masters of Business Administration upon completion of the coursework.”
FT ranks executive education courses in two categories: Custom Programmes and Open Programmes. While the Custom Programme is created specially for a particular corporate, Open Programmes are available for all. In 2008, Duke Corporate Education is the No 1 programme provider in custom category, Harvard Business School’s open programmes are best regarded.
