The only highly reputed management entrance test of IIFT with varying marking pattern for every question considers Quantitative Analysis and Data interpretation section as the most important part of the MBA entrance exam. There are about 45 questions in Quant and DI section divided in 2 parts.

**Key changes**

One of the most important changes that IIFT MBA entrance brings to Quantitative Analysis section is that sometimes the Data Interpretation section is clubbed to Quant section and sometimes to Logical Reasoning section. However, going by the last year exam, it can be expected that DI section will remain clubbed to Quant section as both have same marking process.

**45% Weightage**

25 questions on Quantitative Analysis and 20 questions on Data Interpretation are expected in IIFT 2016 exam. Each correct answer carries the weightage of 1 mark making a total of 45 marks out of maximum100 marks which can be awarded to the candidates who attempt all the questions correct within the allotted time limit.

1 mark in IIFT entrance is the highest mark awarded to any question. The 25 questions on Quant therefore carry 25 marks out of total 100 marks meaning that ‘Quant’ covers one fourth part of the entire test. Hence the importance is more in the test.

DI has 20% weightage in IIFT entrance test and requires a consistent preparation Expected number of questions on Data interpretation in IIFT 2016 entrance test is 20 with a weightage of 1 mark each. 20 marks out of 100 if scored will help you get a meritorious standing to get shortlisted in IIFT admission 2017.** **

Since time remains a major constraint candidates are not able to go beyond 25 questions although they can attempt more.

**Syllabus**

**Quantitative Ability**

25 questions on Quant are importantly based on Probability, Integers, Time, distance, speed/Time & work, Percentage, Other Arithmetic questions, Algebra, Mensuration, Log theory, Geometry, Permutation combination

**Data Interpretation**

20 questions on DI are expected are based on different data forms like tables, charts, bar diagrams, pie charts among others. The information part is followed by 4-5 questions so it’s worth trying with patience. A little more practice can be of great help in this section

Preparation for Quantitative Analysis should be carefully planned. Following topics are required to be covered in your preparation for IIFT 2016 Quant & DI. You may find 1-2 questions on each topic.

**Negative marking**

Each wrong answer in Quant & DI section will be imposed a penalty of 1/3 mark. If you have attempted 36 questions and 30 are correct while 6 are wrong, you will get 30marks – 2 marks=28 marks as 2 marks for 6 wrong answers would be deducted out of your total credit marks.

Please remember IIFT has neck to neck competition in its cut offs, so loss of even 0.25 mark is very important.

**Difficulty level**

Quant and DI in IIFT exam has high difficulty level. After clubbing DI part to Quant, both the high LoD parts have been brought together. According to expert ‘the difficulty level of questions in this section is high and aspirants are advised to practice specific IIFT type of questions. Synchronising the preparation for IIFT with CAT will accelerate the preparation pace with less effort for both the tests’.

According to Prof S K Agarwal “Quant and DI section can award maximum score and weightage in IIFT entrance. It also imposes maximum penalty for each wrong answer in absolute terms. The candidates therefore have to be careful to avoid this negative marking by choosing the answer options with well calculated thought process.”
