Abraham Koshy, working as Professor of Marketing at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is a reputed teacher, researcher, consultant and corporate trainer. He joined IIM Ahmedabad as a faculty in 1989. At IIM Ahmedabad, he teaches in various long-duration programs such as the 2-year Post Graduate Program in Management, One-year Post Graduate Program for Executives, One-year Post Graduate Program in Public Policy and Management and the Doctoral Programme. Besides, he is also a program faculty in several short-duration executive training programs offered by the Institute and designs and conducts customized programs for companies.
He has held responsibilities at IIM Ahmedabad as Charperson, Marketing Area, and has also been a member of various executive committees that manage different programs and activities of the Institute such as Doctoral Program Committee, Post Graduate Program Committee, Executive Committee for the One- Year Post Graduate Program for Executives, One-Year Post Graduate Program in Public Management and Policy, Post Graduate Program in Agri Business Management, Admissions Committee, Executive Committee for Management Development Programs.
Professor Koshy is a co-author of the Marketing management book with marketing guru Prof. Philip Kotler and others (Marketing Management: A South Asian Perspective by Kotler, Keller, Koshy and Jha; Person Education, 2006). In addition to this book, he is a co-author of Growth and Transformations of Small Firms in India (Oxford University Press) and a co-editor of Managing Alternatives (Macmillan India Limited) and Marketing of Information Products and Services (IIM Ahmedabad).
Professor Koshy's general areas of expertise and research interests are on issues relating to new brand development strategies of companies, product and brand management processes, and customer relationship orientations of companies cutting across different verticals.
Prof. Koshy has conducted training programs and offered modules relating to Strategic Marketing and Customer Management for senior executives of several companies in India and abroad. Some of these companies include Tata Steel, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson Medical Division (Asia-Pacific), General Electric, Aviva Insurance, ST Microelectronics, Sumaria Group of Companies, Zubair Group of Companies, Mauritius Telecom, OTIS Elevator, Pfizer, British Council, Indian Oil Corporation, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Baroda, Zydus Cadilla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Apollo Tyres, HDFC Bank, Bharati Televentures, State Bank of Saurastra. He has also conducted executive training programs in countries such as Singapore, France, UK, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius and Egypt.
Currently, he is a Visiting Professor at European School of Management, Paris and Glasgow University, UK. He was also a Visiting Professor at the Department of Marketing and at Strathclyde Business School, Strahclyde University, UK.
He is an Independent Director
in the Board of Directors of many public limited companies including
Malayala Manorama Publishing Company Limited, The Federal Bank
Limited & Autoline Industries Limited. He is also part of
different advisory committees constituted by government organizations
and industry associations. .
