The stand alone section of Logical Reasoning is sometimes clubbed to other sections and sometimes it becomes a separate section in IIFT MBA entrance exam. It is expected that in the IIFT 2016 entrance exam, Logical Reasoning will remain a separate section. Logical Reasoning section consists of about 22 questions in MCQ format in paper-pen mode exam of IIFT.
Logical Reasoning section gets the brunt of changes now and then. The section may increase or decrease the number of questions. They can be in the range of 16 to 20 questions depending upon the test-paper setters for IIFT entrance exam. The syllabus is not well defined, so whatever topic is covered for the question that appears in the exam, is subsequently included to the syllabus.
Logical Reasoning section with 20 questions shall carry a weighatge of 0.75 mark per question in IIFT 2016. The total score comes to 15 out of 100. Since Logical Reasoning may or may not be clubbed to any other section in IIFT entrance exam, qualifying this section with high score will be required to get shortlisted for final admission round at IIFT.
Questions in Logical reasoning section is based on blood relations, seating arrangements, series, analogy, sets. IIFT covers almost all the topics in logical reasoning with 1 or 2 questions on each. Statements, arguments, conclusions are a few favourite topics which require more in depth study.

The questions in IIFT entrance test are placed in sets as well as individual ones. A set of 3-4 questions can follow a problem passage on LR or there could be one or two individual questions on a problem.
Marking system for LR
The varying marking system for different sections in IIFT entrance test awards 3rd place to Logical Reasoning section following Quant and English Comprehension section. Each correct answer in LR will be awarded with 0.75 mark. Accordingly if the section has 20 MCQs and if you are able to attempt all of them correct, you can score 15 marks.
Out of 0.75 mark for each correct answer in Logical Reasoning section, IIFT entrance test has 1/3 negative marking system. A penalty of 0.25 mark for every wrong answer will be imposed. For example, out of 13 attempted questions, if 10 answers are correct and 3 are wrong - the score is 10x0.75=7.5 marks – 0.25x3=0.75 mark; Total marks scored = 6.75
Difficulty level in Logical reasoning is fairly high but the questions are doable. IIFT aspirants, if prepare well can crack this part with a little more practice.

The best part of preparation is that most of the candidates who apply for IIFT are also the CAT aspirants as both the exams are conducted with a difference of few days and cover almost the same syllabus on Logical Reasoning.
