Important dates
Exam
Date: Sunday, February 7, 2010 for the
paper pencil based test. The computer based test
will be held from Saturday, February 13, 2010
onwards.
Sale of
MAT forms: The
sale of MAT forms is open now and will end on
Friday, January 22, 2010. The last day to register
for the exam is Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Last
date for online application is Sunday, January
24, 2010.
Application
Process
The
application can be done both online and offline.
For online application, candidates have to visit
the AIMA website. After the registration, a print
out of the online registration form has to be
submitted in AIMA, New Delhi.
For offline application, candidates have to buy
the MAT Bulletin from listed branches of Bank
of Baroda and listed Study Centers of AIMA.
Eligibility
Candidates must be a Graduate in any discipline
from a recognized University. Final year students
of Graduation can also apply.
Institute
A
total number of 488 MBA institutes all over India
will accept MAT February 2010 scores. Some of
the prominent institutes are Amity Business School,
Noida; Global School of Business, New Delhi; AIMA
Centre for Management Education; Christ College,
Bangalore, Alliance Business School, Bangalore
to name a few.
Test Pattern
MAT basically tests areas like Quantitative Aptitude,
Logical and Critical Reasoning, Verbal Ability,
Data Interpretation/ Data Sufficiency and General
Awareness. There are 200 questions in total, 40
in each section. The questions contain multiple
choices from which the candidate has to choose
the correct option. The acceptance of the scores
of the General Awareness section depends upon
the MBA institutes.
There
is 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 negative
marking on wrong answers. Total time to write
the test is 150 minutes.

TAccording
to T.I.M.E., the difficulty level of the paper
was Moderate. The Verbal Ability section consisted
of 20 questions on Reading Comprehension and 20
questions on Verbal. Some of the questions tested
the Vocabulary while some tested the finer difference
between the formal and informal language.
The Quantitative
Ability section consisted of questions on basic
Arithmetic. The difficulty level of this test
area was rated as Easy to Moderate.
The Logical and
Critical Reasoning section consisted of Analytical
Reasoning and Critical Reasoning questions. The
questions on Analytical Reasoning were of moderate
difficulty level. The questions on Critical Reasoning
were difficult in nature. Overall, the difficulty
level of this area was of Moderate to Difficult
level.
The Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency section
can be rated as Moderate. The questions from the
General Awareness section were on current affairs,
business, sports, famous personalities and their
associated fields. This section can be rated as
Moderately Difficult.
Test Centers
The
test will be held in 74 test centers across the
country. There are two international test centers
in Dubai and Singapore.
