The recent announcement from Prometric on CAT 2010 says that the exam will be held for more number of days but in lesser test centers. To understand more about the plans for CAT 2010, MBAUniverse.com spoke to Soumitra Roy, MD, Prometric, India. From the conversation, it seemed that the blueprint is ready but the execution process is under construction.
"It is a very premature stage for us to mention the exact details of the plan as we are still under discussion with IIMs and lot is under the process, but we are very clear about our goal, which is to offer a problem free testing experience for the CAT 2010 takers," said Roy.
According to Roy, the preparation for a smooth conduct of CAT 2010 has already started and the main concern is to avoid all the technical glitches that raised and bothered the CAT takers in 2009. "We are all committed to make CAT 2010 seamless and glitch less exam."
The announcement that was made by Prometric regarding increasing the test window and decreasing the test sites, called for further explanation. Answering the question, Roy said, "Yes, we have decided that we will increase the number of days for the CAT 2010 exam. Though it is still under discussion as to for how many days will the exam be conducted but be rest assured that CAT 2010 will be conducted for more than 10 days. It will give the test takers more choice to choose the test date. The number of days is directly proportional to the number of test sites. Naturally, if we increase the number of days for conducting the exam, we will require lesser number of test centers."
While sharing the comprehensive plan for a glitch free CAT 2010, Prometric is making specific changes in the site prep and delivery areas. "We are concentrating on the specific improvements on site preparation and delivery areas. For registration, a new website is getting developed. We have sought help from a global usability consultant for this." As far as delivery of the test is concerned, Roy mentioned that an intensive security system is being developed. "We are developing the security system in the test centers. Once we take over the selected test sites for CAT 2010, we will quarantine the system and will not let anybody else use it for any purpose. There will be multiple operational trials and verification of the test structure."
Roy also mentioned that the test center staffs will also undergo massive training and undergo certification program which will help them perform a better job during the CAT 2010 exam. "The test center staffs will have to undergo intensive training. They will also have to undergo a certification program."
