AICTE keeping its promise has declared CMAT Sep 2014 results on October 30, 2014. All India  merit list has displayed the fate of 43212 candidates who have scored between the highest marks 323 to the lowest – 40 out of 400 in CMAT first test for admission session 2015-16. 11 Candidates have scored 300 to 323 marks.

AICTE announced the CMAT result in the early morning of October 30, 2014 and has awarded raw marks along with the percentile. Accordingly the candidate who has scored 323 marks has been awarded 100 percentile.

CMAT conducted by AICTE is a computer based test and is one of the important and largest MBA/PGDM entrance tests that facilitate admission to various management programmes in 400+ good B schools across the country. CMAT Sep 2014 was conducted from Sep 25 to 28, 2014 in 2 sessions on each testing day.

AICTE has given the guidelines that “The candidates would be able to download the electronically generated score card with complete details using their login details from http://www.aicte-cmat.in from 30th Oct – 30th Nov 2014. You can view the National Merit List by simply clicking on it.

CMAT doesn’t disqualify the test taker

CMAT does not disqualify any test taker. According to AICTE “The results will rank all the candidates who appeared in the test based on their aptitude towards the management education in the order of their merit. Candidates will not be declared as eliminated from the admission process in the AICTE approved management programme.  On the contrary the aim is to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per the rank awarded by CMAT.” As such all the candidates who appeared in CMAT and have scored even the negative marks have found a place in the merit list. The candidate can now explore admission possibilities on the basis of his/her scores in different B schools.

Maximum score up

Unlike CMAT Feb 2014 where maximum score was 317 out of 400, CMAT Sep 2014 displays higher scoring pattern with highest score at 323 out of 400. The scoring pattern in national Merit List shows an upward trend. However the scores were even higher in CMAT September 2013 with 326/400 and 355/400 in CMAT May 2013. The highest score, as the pattern shows is the lowest in CMAT Feb 2014 dipping to 317 during the last four CMATs. It’s probably due to the fact that the level of difficulty in CMAT in Feb 2014 was higher than expected.

It will be interesting to note that admissions to academic year 2015 in JBIMS, Mumbai will be based only on CAT, MAHCET and GMAT. CMAT will not be the shortlisting criteria in JBIMS Mumbai.

Scoring Criteria

The Scores obtained in CMAT 2014 have been calculated by assigning:

+4 marks for the correct answer
-1 mark for incorrect answer
  0 mark for no answer

National Merit list

A national merit ranking has been arrived based on the Total Score. In case scores are same for more than one candidate, the ranking has been done on sectional score considered in the  order of:

Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation

Logical Reasoning

Language Comprehension

General Awareness

In case more than one candidate secures same ranking as per the above criteria, the same Rank has been assigned to all of them but has been  displayed by sorting their names alphabetically.  The Rank of the subsequent candidate has then been extended by the number of additional students having the same Rank. For example if three students are at 25th Rank then subsequent student will be ranked as 28th.

Percentile Calculation in CMAT

AICTE-CMAT has awarded percentile along with the raw scores in the National Merit List. The calculation criteria is as follows

Percentile has been calculated using the formula:

Percentile P = ( (N- your rank)/ N) x 100

(Where P is percentile and N is total number of candidates appeared for exam)
