MAH CET 2015 Result: DTE declares calculation process of awarding equated scores

Declaring the equi percentile process, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra has shared the transparent methodology adopted in calculation of equated score for MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2015 result

 

57224 took MAH CET 2015

 

MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2015 conducted on 14th /15th April 2015 in 2 sessions each witnessed 57224 candidates in all out of total 60292 registered candidates. According to DTE Maharashtra ‘result of the candidates is processed on the basis of standard equi-percentile method by referring the scores of the candidates appeared for the CET on 14th March 2015 in session 2 (Batch II). The percentiles are computed up to 3 decimal places. If the percentile could not be mapped in such cases linear interpolation method is adopted’.

 

3 Step process

 

Followings are the steps carried out for MAH CET 2015 result processing

 

Step 1

 

Number of questions considered for evaluation for each Batch is shown below. Marks obtained out of the questions considered for evaluation for respective batch were converted to marks out of 200.

Step 2

 

Percentile of marks obtained in the respective batch is calculated batch wise i.e, Batch I, Batch II, Batch III & Batch IV. The formula adopted is shared below

Step 3

 

Percentile scale of Batch II is taken as the basis for equi-percentile method as maximum number of candidates appeared for this batch. The equated score for the percentile that are not present in the percentile of Batch II will be calculated by interpolation

 

Y = Equated Score rounded up to 2 decimal places
Y1 = Marks corresponding to immediate lower percentile form Batch II
Y2 = Marks corresponding to immediate upper percentile form Batch II
X1 = Immediate lower percentile form Batch II
X2 = Immediate upper percentile form Batch II
X = Percentile of the Candidate of the respective Batch

59 questions not evaluated

 

MAH CET 2015 takers may recall that number of technical glitches and wrong questions appeared in the exam across all the sessions. In all 59 questions out of 800 questions were not evaluated and DTE Maharashtra assured to adopt the standardized Equi Percentile Process in declaration of MAH CET 2015 result.

 

Thousands of candidates taking MAH CET 2015 approached MBAUniverse.com complaining technical glitches and number of wrong questions and questions with wrong answer options. Although at a few centres on March 14, 2015, the first day of MAH CET 2015, DTE Maharashtra rescheduled the exam for March 15, 2015, the second day of the test but there were many wrong questions and answers in all the 4 sessions.

 

As a result when the candidates approached DTE Maharashtra with their grievances, initially DTE didn’t budge from its stand. The pressure continued to mount and number of candidates also made it a point to approach and meet Mr Vinod Tawde, Hon’ble Minister for Education Govt of Maharashtra as well as Mr Devendra Fadnavis , Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

 

After meeting and reporting the issues faced during conduct of MAH CET 2015 to Dr S K Mahajan, Director DTE Maharashtra, on March 18  MAH CET 2015 test takers shared and asked for support from MBAUniverse.com “We had meeting with Mahajan Sir and seen their instant wake up they framed committee for this MH MBA CET 2015 issues. We need your support in this campaign”

 

Dr Subhash Mahajan agreed to act upon the outcome of the Committee’s report. With the evidence produced by the test takers and also confirmed and brought forward by the experts in the committee, DTE Maharashtra decided that no evaluation would be done for the wrong questions; questions with wrong answer options; missing answer options and repeated answer options.

 

Accordingly DTE Maharashtra vide its Notice dated March 20, 2015 provided the session-wise number of questions in MAH CET 2015 which have not accounted for evaluation and the candidates have been given a fair level playing field while awarding the marks with the Standardized Equi-percentile process.
