Not all the B schools displayed on AICTE site are accepting CMAT 2015 test scores for admission to their PGDM programmes commencing 2015
B schools like JBIMS, SPJIMR, IMI, FORE, CIMP despite being present in AICTE list wouldn`t accept CMAT 2015 scores

AICTE-CMAT Feb 2015 result declared on March 25, 2015 has although given the opportunity to the test takers to apply for MBA/PGDM admission 2015-17 batch, not all the B schools displayed on AICTE site are accepting CMAT 2015 test scores for admission to their PGDM programmes commencing 2015.

There are many B schools that are supposed to accept CMAT 2015 second test scores.  AICTE while displaying these top B schools declares  “The list of AICTE approved institutions which will be using CMAT scores for admission in management programmes for 2015-16 can be viewed by clicking on the below link AICTE approved institutions using CMAT scores”.  But in fact many of them do not accept CMAT scores. You have to therefore ensure the CMAT score acceptability by these B schools before applying for admission.

AICTE: Claim not correct

Going by this list of AICTE approved institutions using CMAT scores, AICTE claims that students can explore admission opportunity on the basis of CMAT 2015 second test scores such B schools. But the admission process of these B schools tells a different story according to which the aspirants should be on their guard before applying to these institutes as many of them may not accept CMAT 2015 second test scores. For example B schools like JBIMS, SPJIMR, IMI, FORE, CIMP despite being present in AICTE list wouldn’t accept CMAT 2015 scores.

Fate of 57000 at stake

CMAT is one of the largest management entrance tests after CAT and XAT. CMAT Feb 2015 test result has 57000 candidates who have been included in the merit list declared by AICTE. Most of these test takers relied upon the list of institutes provided by AICTE on its site.

While most of the candidates appeared in CMAT Feb 2015 test to improve their scores over CMAT 2015 first test held in September 2014, those who appeared in CMAT for the first time with the hope to get admission with high scores in the top B schools available on AICTE site have found to their astonishment that these B schools wouldn’t accept CMAT scores. On the top of it, AICTE has not cared to update the list of such institutes on its site.

Be on your guard

It is not important when AICTE chooses to update its list of B schools accepting CMAT scores, the importance is of the fact that the candidates, if they apply to these B schools, pay the application fee and at the later stage find that their time, energy and money have been wasted since these B schools wouldn’t accept CMAT 2015 scores, what they should do then?  Does the responsibility lie with AICTE or the B school? In the tug of war, this is the career of the applicant that comes at stake while the fixation of onus of responsibility lingers on.

It is difficult to assume and ascertain that the list is updated for admission session 2015-16. The question whether the list of AICTE approved institutions also means the list of institutions accepting CMAT scores is an important big issue. In fact it is not necessary for the B school to accept CMAT score for admission even if the respective PGDM/MBA programme is approved by AICTE.

B schools to use better of 2 CMAT scores

Like earlier years, AICTE has provided the candidates two opportunities to seek admission in PGDM programmes in the academic session 2015-16 on the basis of  scores in CMAT 2015 first test and the second test. The first CMAT was conducted in September, 2014 from Sep 25 to 28, 2014 and the second from Feb 19 to 22, 2015.

Result of CMAT 2015 first test had higher scoring pattern with candidates scoring more marks as against low scoring pattern in CMAT 2015 second test. The highest score in CMAT Feb 2015 has gone down from 323 in CMAT 2015 first test to 305 in CMAT 2015 second test. The highest score in CMAT 2015 second test is also lower than the score in CMAT Feb 2014 which was 317 out of 400. The lowest score has also got a dip from -40 in CMAT 2015 first test to -70 in CMAT 2015 second test.

The analysis implies that there is less scope of having improved your scores in CMAT 2015 second test over the CMAT 2015 first test. In case you have not scored higher than CMAT Sep 2014 exam, you don’t need to submit your scores as better of two scores in both the CMAT exams will be taken into account for admission for PGDM/MBA batch 2015-17

Top B schools: Not accepting CMAT scores

Relying on the AICTE list, if the candidate applies to the B school, pays the application fee, and to his dismay he finds that the B school wouldn’t shortlist him on the basis of CMAT 2015 scores, how disheartened he will be? Rest assured AICTE will also not be able to reply satisfactorily.
